Editorial Reviews

Kirkus Reviews
"...a late-blooming dad humorously discusses the angst, joys, and mysteries of fatherhood." "...the author's creative wordplay goes beyond the cute chapter titles. The wit here is found in many observational comparisons..." "The intelligence of the writing suggests that Bell is aware of the uncouthness in focusing on 'subject matter that is nauseatingly droll coming from anyone except yourself." "...the book's...ample wit will find traction with parents..." "...creative and comical."
Midwest Book Review - Midwest Book Review
"Living it up single makes for a fun time, but it doesn't prepare one for fatherhood..." "My Dad Is A Freak' is an enticing and much recommended read..."
NYCDadsGroup.com - Seth Leibowitz
"Bell's sarcastic humor and detailed stories about parent/teacher conferences...are downright hilarious." "This is a great book to pick up this summer and read at the beach..."

I found this book to be hilarious and well written. This isn't the kind of "yuck yuck" humor that leaves you groaning, but rather a laugh out loud funny interspersed with very touching, insightful moments. This is a really well-written book. The author manages to avoid cliches and provide creative takes on otherwise mundane subject matters. As a creative writing teacher, I will be using this book in my class as an example of how to breathe fresh air into a well-worn genre.
