Overview

Matthew Inman dishes another helping of hilarity from his online comic The Oatmeal in My Dog: The Paradox. After years of carefully observing his own dog, Rambo, Inman follows his #1 New York Times best-selling How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You, with this ode to the furry, four-footed, tail-wagging bundle of love and unbridled energy frequently dubbed man’s best friend.

This eponymous comic became an instant hit when it went live on The Oatmeal.com and was liked on Facebook by 700,000 fans. Now fans will have a keepsake book of this comic to give and to keep.

In My Dog: The Paradox, Inman discusses the canine penchant for rolling in horse droppings, chasing large animals four times their size, and acting recklessly enthusiastic through the entirety of their impulsive, lovable lives. Hilarious and heartfelt, My Dog: The Paradox eloquently illustrates the complicated relationship between man and dog.

We will never know why dogs fear hair dryers, or being baited into staring contests with cats, but as Inman explains, perhaps we love dogs so much “because their lives aren’t lengthy, logical, or deliberate, but an explosive paradox composed of fur, teeth, and enthusiasm.”

Disappointed....not in the book, as I'm sure I'd love it, butin the fact that I can't read it. Please make sure before purchase that you have a device that is supported.  My original nook first displayed the message that "This title cannot  be viewed on this device.",  I assumed that this was most likely because it was older and black and white, so I signed into my nook app on my Samsung Galaxy Note (nice, shiney new technology) and reci

This is a book by The Oatmeal, you can read this first online just look it up. People that are saying this is vulgar or disgusting are clearly not familiar with the artist who writes these books. I find this book tremendously funny, He does not write comics for children these are meant for adults. Please familiarize yourself with his work before you go and say how terrible he is, he has a website with plenty of free to read comics. I have all of his books and I greatly enjoy them all. Giving his work one star because there is a glitch with the e reader software is not his fault in any way just report the issue to B&N and let them work it out.

    Don't Bother

Not worth the money, even for an ebook. Twenty-five pages and vulgar.

    Unfunny disgusting language

From the title, this sounded like a cute, funny little book so I ordered it to give to a dog-loving friend. When I looked at it, it was neither cute nor funny with nothing except pages of extremely vile, objectionable language. I not only wouldn't give it to a friend but I wouldn't even give it to her dog. The review should have given some kind of indication that it was nothing but 'adult' language.

Good and interesting view on man's best friend

I had recently lost my dog who died just short of his 13th birthday. His loss hit my family and me especially hard. Even now, I find it difficult to adapt to life without him, for he was a part of my life for so many years. Read a lot of pet loss grief counseling articles and such, but after picking up your book, it made me laugh and smile for the first time since my dog's death. Although it is a short book, still, entertaining, funny, and an interesting viewpoint on how dogs may perceive things. I just wanted to tell the author , Matthew, thank you. For bringing back the spirit and for reminding me of all the funny experiences of my dog in correlation to your book, thank you.

    Hilariousss!

Got this as a gift for a dog-lover friend of mine. She thought it was great and agreed with most of the snarky comments. I read through first and almost bought one for myself. A cute little book to have around.

This is a cute and hilarious take on our relationship with dogs. As well as the perception of how dogs view their environment(s).

    The animations are outstanding.

Humorous and touching narrative is present throughout the book.

    Overall, a great read.
