Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Everyone remembers their first visit to a farm. From the smell of the horse stables to the amazing sights of big cows and funny sheep, a farm offers a new experience for all little ones. Introduce your child to the wonders of the farm in this durable and fun board book from DK publishing. Sharp photography and easy-to-read labels make this a thorough introduction for any child. Goats and pigs are paired with their offspring, and tractors are shown in great detail (even emphasizing the rearview mirrors.) Young farmhands will love all the farm machines, like the milk tanker and farm loader. And young food lovers will be drawn to bright photos of farm produce such as apricots, apples, and eggs. At the end of the book, kids can also work on their counting skills and recognition of colors and animal noises. From wee little piggys to wheat fields, lessons in farming were never so fun!
School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 1-Covering everything from farm buildings and personnel to animals, crops, and machinery, this title gives pre-readers a lot to pore over. Presented in the publisher's signature style, bright, crisp, color photographs are set on a white background and are clearly labeled in both Spanish and English. The Spanish words have a slightly larger typeface and appear above the English text. A nice adjunct to alphabet board books like Theresa Howell's A Is for Airplane/A es para avion (Rising Moon, 2003), this offering is a solid addition. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

    My son loves this book!

My 2.5 year old son is into farms and farmers lately and loves this book, especially during meal times (unfortunately he needs to "read" while eating). Of course, it's easy to clean if he spills on it. Great pictures. He identifies almost every item in the book, including various types of farm machinery and vehicles, which he finds fascinating.

    Great Book!

My daughter is two and her grandparents live on a farm. This book has great pictures and really teaches her about the things she sees on a daily basis. It has different farm animals and their babies scattered through the first couple of pages. Parts of their bodies are pointed out and named as well. There are pictures of different types of machinery such as tractors, combines, atvs, trucks, etc. There is a man inside one of them that she likes to point out as 'papa'. It also shows the different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and other food products made from farms. It teaches four basic colors of blue, green, red, and yellow. It also teaches how to count using different fruits. Altogether, this book is outstanding!
