Overview

Stand-alone Crossroads romance, complete with HEA--and plenty of heat and heart along the way!

Jason Sloan is known as Harper's Crossing's resident Romeo, and he's never had to work too hard to live up to that nickname. With his easygoing charm, whiskey-colored brown eyes, and sinfully sexy half smile, women just seem to fall all over themselves when he's around.

Well...most women, anyway. Katie Lawson's the one woman who isn't putty in his hands, and she's the only one he's ever wanted in his arms.

Katie Lawson left Harper's Crossing in the middle of the night ten years ago, immediately after her high school boyfriend Nick's funeral. She left behind all memories of Nick, and she left behind her life-long best friend, Jason Sloan.

Now she's on the fast track to junior partner at one of San Francisco's top law firms. She's made a life for herself that's all about maintaining order and sticking to the rules. Rule #1 is keeping herself WAY too busy to think about all that she ran away from. If she can do that, after all, she can keep everything under control.

But that rule is about to be broken. She's headed back home to be the maid of honor in Nick's little sister's wedding. It's time to face the truth she's been avoiding all these years, the same one that sent her running ten years ago - that maybe she didn't lose her first love the summer after high school. Maybe her first love has been waiting for her all this time, at home in Harper's Crossing.

Meet the Author

Melanie Shawn is the writing team of sister duo Melanie and Shawna. Originally from Northern California, they both migrated south and now call So Cal their home.

Growing up, Melanie constantly had her head in a book and was always working on short stories, manuscripts, plays and poetry. After graduating magna cum laude from Pepperdine University, she went on to teach grades 2nd through 8th for five years. She now spends her days writing and taking care of her furry baby, a Lhasa Apso named Hercules. In her free time, her favorite activity is to curl up on the couch with that stubborn, funny mutt and binge-watch cable TV shows on DVD (preferably of at least eight seasons in length - a girl's gotta have her standards!).

Shawna always loved romance in any form - movie, song or literary. If it was a love story with a happy ending, Shawna was all about it! She proudly acknowledges that she is a romanceaholic. Her days are jam-packed with writing, being a wife, mom aka referee of two teens, and indulging in her second passion (dance!) as a Zumba instructor. In the little free time she has, she joins Melanie in marathon-watching DVDs of their favorite TV programs.

They have joined forces to create a world where True Love and Happily Ever After always has a Sexy Twist!

Love this writing duo - it makes for an interesting read as the books are all different. There are 2 people with thoughts and ideas for the storyline which makes them unique. The perspectives of each book in the series is great. I liked the back and forth in this story with the flashback sequences to help you understand the friendship between Jason and Katie. How the characters deal with past relationships, guilt, and realization that they were meant to be together was a fun story to read. Now on to book 2

Loved the book can't wait for the next one. Jason is a guy any girl would wanna date. I'm glad they worked out and didn't let the past keep them apart.

After reading their other books, I expected more of the same fun, well paced writing. I was disappointed at how slow this book moved, and at all of the lengthy flashbacks. The book could have been half the length and a much more enjoyable read.

I shouldn't complain too much because it was a decent free book. The beginning was very slow. It took 50 pages just for her to get her suitcases into the house. I enjoyed the middle when the story started moving along and the relationship was building. But then the end felt rushed and I thought the authors tried to squeeze too much in. The motorcycle man thing was almost an afterthought and I think the story would have been better without it.

It’s an old photo of Jason and Katie at 11-years old that brings Katie any comfort and subside her oncoming panic attacks. Why? What happened? What was “the incident?” Now Katie returns to Harpers Crossing and the two are reunited at a mutual friend’s wedding party. A trip down memory lane from their first meeting in kindergarten to their romantic rendezvous on her last night in town play throughout the book. Ever since kindergarten, Jason has been trying to get her attention. This is the story of an “unfinished” romance in the whirlwind of wedding events, which were kind of dull. This is the story of “firsts”—first crush, first kiss, first love. Jason is just so WOW! He was the knight in shining armor. Let’s hear more about the Sloan boys! A sweet, sensual romance.

Sweet love story

I only made it to page 50 and i can't make it any further. Too much time spent on inner thoughts during conversations and scenes that i kept forgetting what was going on. I cant imagine how bad it will get from here on to the end. Delete

A 24 chapter story of a tramautized career woman returning to her hometown and family and friends after leaving ten years ago. She basically deserts everyone with her family visiting her because she can't find time to visit them even when they visit her she doesn't really have time for them, AND then she's surprised how much everyone and everything changes. The story replicates itself over and over and over with the angst, crying, drama and don't forget tingling, and this is in 3 days. The story premise is good but the execution is repetiticious. The sex scenes when she is behaving like a slut ??? are pages long with a lot of dialog - she likes to talk. The story also goes back and forth in time which isn't bad if the rest of the story wasn't so repetitive. A good bedtime book because you get tired of the repeating scenerios. But you might want a good cup of coffee with this story because it's so SWEET. But since it' s all about how she feels, it's okay. Drama Queens unite! Maybe I got the unedited version. This story can also be found in the .99 boxed set Fall in Love.

a great story about dealing with what life throws at you. Funny, Sad, and Sweet. The editing could have been better, but you can figure out what it was supposed to be,
