Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
This is a Bible for children to read for themselves. A title heads each two page spread. The story is told in four to six action packed sentences and is accompanied by a Biblical reference. In the story "Fire in the bush" it says: "Suddenly God spoke from the bush. 'Moses, go back to Egypt and rescue your unhappy people.' 'I can't!' Moses exclaimed. 'Yes, you can,' God said, 'because I will be with you.'" In the story called: "Jesus gives new life," it says: "'Move the stone away!' Jesus ordered. 'Lazarus, come out!' he called. And to everyone's amazement, Lazarus walked out alive and well." Lists of titles appear before the Old and New Testaments. Illustrations interweave the text. A blinded Samson is shown pulling down the temple of Dagon. Jesus is up to his neck in water at his baptism. An index and a list of characters with page numbers are included. The index lists stories in categories such as: "Prophets, Priests, and Kings" and "Jesus' Miracles." Children will enjoy the semi-comical colored pictures of Mid-Eastern people.
