This book is so beautifully written, you feel as if you are walking with John Muir. You can almost smell the pine, hear the birds and feel the wind on your face. His love of the nature GOD gave us is found throughout this fine book.

When nature calls, disconnect your phone and go find it. John Muir takes us back to a pastoral existence as he ascends from Merced into The Yosemite. His insight into plants, animals, and human impact on beautiful California has made me a Yosemite fanatic. He offers wise insight, comparing slow living and making the most of our time on earth, with the strange (from his perspective) activities of humans. The journal entry style of this book may put some off, but the seasons and weather are an important part of this story, and this journal, although spit-shined after going to print, would put anyone's to shame. Muir's passion is contagious and his insight fascinating.
