Editorial Reviews

Alison Hansel
If you're looking to get your littlest ones excited about trying yoga for the first time, this is the place to start. This fun picture book shows your toddler how to turn him/herself into a whole menagerie of animals, including a lion, a snake, a monkey, a cow, a cat, and, my daughter's favorite, a flamingo. This book is not a textbook for parents full of reasons about why yoga is good for your child or planned routines to show them.

My First Yoga: Animal Posesby Abbie Davies is a lovely book ideal for the youngest yogis. The book comprises 10 animals poses including Monkey, Flamingo, Dog, Lion, Butterfly and others, accompanied by basic explanations and one major benefit for each. Truly My First Yoga is a wonderful introduction to yoga and a great way to share mind/body activities with the little ones in your life.

I absolutely love this book. I don't have kids yet, but I looked through this book and I work with kids and I think it is just perfect for kids' ages. The illustrations are superb. If you've ever seen a kid's eyes captivated by a story, completely engaged in the idea and the practice - this is the book. The best part is that I sometimes leaf through it for reminders to do my own yoga practice!

Well-rounded, clear, concise and gorgeously illustrated, the poses will make even the most world-weary, computer-stiffened body want to move. Utilizing animals in a way that enchants children. The book thoughtfully encompasses both genders and each pose is accompanied by information on what benefits it has for the body - and what kind of child it's particularly suited to. The Lion Pose, for example, strengthens the face, mouth and throat - and so is ideally suited to little singers and actors.

Abbie Davies has created a book called My First Yoga. My review can be summed up in one word, "HOORAY!" This book is absolutely PERFECT! My daughter likes to look through the book and talk about the sounds that each animal makes, and she has been working on a few of the poses, because she likes to imitate what she sees the children in the book doing.

PERFECT book to keep my little one entertained!

I read this book with my 3 year old and we did all the poses together. Later the same day he used the book to go through the poses on his own. It is so adorable to watch him! I highly recommend this to anyone with toddler/preschool age kids!
