Editorial Reviews

Courteney Cox
“I read My Foot is Too Big for the Glass Slipperin one sitting and loved every second of it. It’s blunt, honest, hilarious, andinspiring. Everyone who is married—or thinking about getting married—shouldread this.”
Chelsea Handler
"Gabby has huge feet. If this book will get her to stop asking me to exercise with her, I'm all for it."
Pamela Redmond Satran
“Cheers for Gabrielle Reece, an athlete, woman, wife, and mother who dares to live big, risk big, fall flat on her face and, with the brilliant Karen Karbo, write with humor and grace about it. We love her, and this book, even more for her shortcomings than for her triumphs. Reece is truly a heroine for our times.”
Elle
"An exuberant, right-on, and humorous hand-holder to confronting the crises, celebrating the victories, and—after a separation—achieving the middle ground in her marriage to world-famous big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton."
Fitness magazine
“A really good read.”
Momtrends.com
“A no-nonsense approach to marriage, and what it really means to be true to oneself. [Reece] opens up about her past marital struggles and even offers some sage advice on how not to sweat the small stuff….Highly recommended.”
Library Journal
Reece has been a women's beach volleyball star, television host, fashion model, fitness expert, and author of Big Girl in the Middle, but as she as she reconsiders what she's been through (including a marriage that went south) she's reconciled to a life that hasn't been perfect.
Kirkus Reviews
Practical advice on mothering and being a wife. When beach-volleyball star and fashion model Reece (Big Girl in the Middle, 1998) became a mother, she tackled it just like she did everything else in her life: head-on and with no baloney. With the assistance of Karbo (How Georgia Became O'Keeffe, 2011, etc.), Reece blends simple wisdom on being a mom, wife and friend with personal anecdotes. The end result is mostly a series of platitudes on life--"exercise is the key to everything," "spending time with couples who are making their marriages work ups the odds that you'll make yours work, too," "eating well is not complicated," "if you want your partnership to last, you better plan on being naked and smiling"--with humorous comments on being a new mom and wife. Reece covers birthing, exercise, diet, sex, commitment and the need for community service, but most of the information is similar to what can be found in many women's magazines. Reece advocates for less computer and electronic-gadget time--get outdoors and enjoy the scenery, she writes--stresses the importance of children knowing who's in charge while allowing them time to become their own independent selves, and encourages women to take time for themselves, even for an hour. The end result is not that women have it all, but that they are the queens of their domains; if they have the kindness, generosity and work ethic to reach for that goal, then they "will live interestingly ever after." Often-heard, occasionally useful advice on how to be a successful mom and partner.

    Comedy Falls Flat

While I lived Gabby's interview on Chelsea Lately the other night and it prompted me to read her book I expected more. My expectation was a light FUNNY read. This book was neither light nor funny. Her attempts to be funny fall flat and I just ended up feeling sorry for her.

Funny read! As someone who has no model for how an intact family

Funny read! As someone who has no model for how an intact family should function/operate, this was a great insight into how a working mother manages her household and family and how her marriage almost fell apart and how with hard work it fell back together. I will definitely re-read this book.

A great read for all women. Her advice never comes across as ove

A great read for all women. Her advice never comes across as overbearing, rather as someone simply stating what works for her and her family. Kudos to Gabby for writing a book that isn't afraid to say that men and women are indeed different and that "submitting" to one's husband is a choice a strong woman is free to make. Go Gabby!
