    Wonderful new novelist!

Miranda Lane is on vacation in Connecticut. She has just turned in her latest manuscript to her Agent and Publisher. Unfortunately they don¿t like the book as much as she did and they want a ¿few changes¿ ok so changing the setting, the Hero from an Beta male to an Alpha male, oh yeah and change his profession seen to be more a ¿do-over¿ than a rewrite. So what does Miranda do, she goes to play paintball. She manages to take out 4 guys before they even know what hits them. Chas Casey can¿t believe that he was shot in the chest and never saw it coming. It rocks him more than the others as while this was paintball; it was how his father was killed. He is intrigued as well as annoyed to find out she is also his blind date a few nights later. Chas ends up helping Miranda learn about Police Operations as well as learning a lot about herself. Miranda is no pushover and in fact puts Chas in place on more than one occasion and bests his brother in about 30 seconds flat. Wonderful debut novel from Marianna and Penguin Publishing! I like many of the others reviewers want to know when Joe¿s book will be due out, and whatever the answer it is not soon enough. I say that after staying up past midnight (having to be at work by 7am) to finish the story, much to the grumblings of my hubby to ¿turn out that light¿

    Fresh & Funny

I saw the Romantic Times review - always looking for new authors. Jameson didn't write a cliche romance story. It was much funnier than I expected and the characters and plot much more complex than your typical Romance Novel. Had to stay up late to see what happened to Chas and Miranda and it was worth it. Can't wait for Jameson's next book!

    2.5 stars

Miranda Lane has built her successful career as a romance novelist writing Southern set tales with gentle, beta heroes. Told she must set her newest novel in the land of the Yankees with an alpha hero, a cop no less, she rebels. However, economic reality forces her to submit to her editor's demands. However, she will have to do some research to get a role model on whom to pattern her hero. That's where Officer Chas Casey comes in. Observing him, and getting in his way, Miranda begins to change her mind about hating alphas. Chas is not half bad, once she gets to know him, but her avoidance of literary macho men stems from issues she has with real ones. Only by facing the pain she hides can she succeed in literature and love both. ..................................... A truly sensitive, weighty tale is hidden under the fluff. More focus on the real issue would have made this an excellent novel instead of merely light comedy.
