Following her laugh-out-loud New York Times bestseller You’ll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again, Chelsea Lately writer and star Heather McDonald moves on from dating to motherhood with this new collection of outrageous essays chronicling her attempt to have it all—her way.

This self-proclaimed “Real Housewife of Woodland Hills” is determined to achieve A-list status (thus expanding her entourage beyond her three school-age children and a househusband who is infuriatingly bad at collecting neighborhood gossip) and to defeat (or at least be accepted by) the mean neighborhood moms who judge her for taking her kids to a stripper pool party in Vegas. It’s a lot to juggle when she’s also battling Chelsea Handler and coworkers for the crudest practical jokes (just ask her about that “free” Vera Wang dress). . . .

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

Comedian, comedy writer, and author Heather McDonald is famously outrageous, as evidenced by her bestselling debut You'll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again. Now this formerly unwilling Hollywood virgin is back with another collection of hilarious escapades. Her My Inappropriate Life proves conclusively that a happily married wife and working mom can still get herself in very deep and very funny trouble. In episodes as funny as her After Lately skits, McDonald explains why bringing her kids to a Vegas stripper pool party was probably a mistake and what keeping up the Kardashians really means. Raucous misadventures for Chelsea fans.

Time Out New York
"Her subjects—which include kids, life in the Hills and on-set shenanigans—will appeal most to naughty moms."
Kris Jenner
"As a mom who has been accused of being inappropriate, I just want to say I'm nothing compared to Heather."
Jen Kirkman
“Most moms that you work with come to your desk uninvited and start showing you photos or telling you boring stories about their kids….Not Heather McDonald. Instead she shows me photos of her new pool.”
Sarah Colonna
“I don’t know any other person who can tell me they are 'over trees,' mean it, make me laugh about it, and at the same time make me wonder if perhaps I am, too.”

I love this book. I don't think I ever stopped laughing. Even though Heather's life is different than the average working mom, this book tells stories that we can all relate to. It is honest, poignant, and very relatable.  I would recommend it highly. You will enjoy it immensely.

    Ehhhh

It's a pretty easy read and is mildly funny at times. However, her writing is all over the place and hard to follow. I actually preferred her first book to this one. She seemed to be reaching at times.

Such a fun read and truly laugh out loud funny. I heard Heather McDonald on a few radio interviews and thought, "I must meet her and to take this woman to lunch!"

Since I live in Florida, have no Hollywood connections and I am not a stalker, I had to settle on buying the book in order to "have lunch" with Heather.

Her stories are so entertaining and her perspective on other women, parenting, husbands and getting our perfect little angels into the right private school hits home. I wish all women spoke openly and honestly like Heather does in this book.

The next time someone posts their child's SAT score on Facebook (really, I have a FB friend who did that recently) or wishes a "Happy Birthday to my soul mate and perfect husband of 15 years who always picks up his dirty underwear and doesn't chew his cereal with his mouth open.", I am going to have to ask myself WWHD and possibly have the nerve to respond as she would! (maybe not, but a girl can dream)

In short, buy this book and enjoy the fact that there are actually other women out there who are not perfect and can laugh about it.
