Editorial Reviews

Melinda Helfer
Each new work a precious gem, Ms. Richardson creates unforgettable characters and a haunting ambiance that makes the subsequent joyous resolution an even greater treasure for readers.
Romantic Times
Library Journal
Mesmerized by the exquisite singing voice of his nieces' lovely French governess, Isobel de Montargis, and intrigued by the proud, determined migr e herself, Lord Christian Hatherleigh sets out to help her achieve her musical career goals, never thinking that he will end up in love with her as well. A charming, perceptive hero who cares, a lovely, empathetic heroine torn between her duty to her father and her passion for her art, and the impossibly rigid social worlds of the English ton and the French migr community neatly combine to produce a highly detailed story that provides unique glimpses of the era's musical and migr scenes and overlays it with enough understandable political detail to have it all make sense. Thoughtful treatment of the emotional aftermath of loss and change, effectively handled sexual tension, and a wonderfully compelling love story recommend this unusually rich, complex Regency, which has a bit more to it than most and should appeal to readers who enjoy Georgette Heyer's more intricate and historically detailed works. Richardson is a veteran author of accurate, well-written Regency romances (e.g., The Gallant Guardian, Signet, 1998) and lives in Lexington, MA. Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.

    Shaking with fury?

The main female character, Isobel, shakes with fury when the male hero of our story, Christian, tells them they belong together. So ridiculous. She is a boring, nit-wit character and he deserves a female who will appreciate him and not behave with such stupid behavior. It was truly beyond understanding. Don't bother wasting your time reading this bore of a book. In the end you end up hope Christian meets someone else!
