Meet the Author

Henry Ford (1863-1947) was an American industrialist, inventor, and businessman who founded Ford Motor Company. Born on a farm near Detroit, Ford despised farm work and left home at 16 to become an apprentice machinist. He eventually became a self-taught engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company, which gave him sufficient time to experiment with internal-combustion engines. He and several other investors founded Ford Motor Co. in 1903 and released the wildly successful Model T in 1908.

Learning that Henry Ford, a man I had been taught to idolize sin

Learning that Henry Ford, a man I had been taught to idolize since I was a child, was a huge anti-Semite and a ardent supporter of Hitler (even giving him a present of $50,000 for Hitler's 50th birthday) has caused me to lose so much respect for him and what he did that I can't even see a Ford vehicle without thinking of Henry Ford and his actions. It is illogical, I know, since Ford has long since stopped being controlled by the Ford family, and even if it was that is not to say that his ancestors share his opinions, but there it is.
