Overview

The third disc from this Atlanta trio serves up another batch of the Dirty South flavor that block parties across the map have come to depend on. My Life: Your Entertainment is full of the sample-free bounce we expect from Hotlanta artists such as Outkast, Drama, and Goodie Mob. But P.A. lace their production with plenty of funky guitar riffs well-suited for their fist-pumping choruses and hip-swaying beats -- a dirty metal lick propels "Playaz Do," and bluesy tremolo chords underscore the tough talk of "U Got, We Got's." The group also deliver a carefree party anthem with "Sundown," a delicious slice of wah-wah and horn-saturated funk that celebrates the end of the work day. But lest you mistake P.A. for a politically correct rap outfit, as they state on the title track, the group relish in rhymin' about "criminals and thugs/ money, murder, and drugs." After all, P.A. does stand for Parental Advisory.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Brad Mills
Members of Parental Advisory have been notable producers in the South since the early '90s, but rarely have they kicked it on the microphone to their tracks. They appear on every track of this release and prove they aren't slouches in the lyrical department either, demonstrating they can hold down from both ends like so few people have been able to do over the years, putting themselves in the same producer/MC category as Mobb Deep, Pete Rock, or Diamond D. The thing about this album that really stands out is the wide range of topics and styles covered throughout. From the bouncy and inspiring "They Come Thru" to the gangsta vibe of "My Life, Your Entertainment" to the melodramatic "My Time 2 Go" over to the slow heavy rock sounds of "Playaz Do" and, of course, the chillin-out funky rollin in the car track "Sundown" with featured artist Eightball. Any fan of the Dirty South should definitely pick up this album, there are just too many good songs to pass up. Overall it's a complete album, with tons of guest appearances and great replay value.
