My Love of Bird Hunting
MY LOVE OF BIRD HUNTING is a compilation of 36 short stories about Randy Roberts's lifetime of hunting birds. Randy was born January 31, 1953 in Bedford, Indiana, the son of Dick and June Roberts. Dick was an avid hunter and he passed down his love of bird hunting to his son by taking him hunting with him at a very early age. Dick loved bird dogs. Over the years he had Irish Setters, English Setters, and English Pointers.

Randy hunted several species of birds. His favorite was ruffed grouse but he also hunted quail, pheasants, turkeys, woodcock, and waterfowl.

Randy's primary companion on his hunts was a little 35 pound black and white English Setter named Babe. The two had a very good ten year run during which they became a good functioning team.

In 1980 Randy became friends with Coach Bob Knight through bird hunting. Several of the stories in this book are about hunts with Bob which the reader will certainly enjoy.

About the Author

Was born in Bedford, Indiana on January 31, 1953. I've been married 50 years to Emily and we have three grown children, Lucas, Mitchell, and Maggie. I attended Indiana University where I earned a BS from the Kelley School of Business and an MS from the Indiana University School of Parks and Recreation.
For my first career I worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for twenty years as a Reservoir Specialist primarily at Lake Monroe which was smack dab in the middle of what once was a great ruffed grouse hunting area. I later worked eighteen years as the Business Manager for Spencer-Owen Community Schools in Spencer, Indiana. I was fortunate in that I looked forward to going to work nearly every day.
I am now retired and other than spinal stenosis am in pretty good health for being 72 years old. The stenosis has taken away my ability to walk on hunting trips but my kids get me out every so often to hunt off a 4-wheeler. My second love is fishing and I can still fish out my son's bass boats all day!
I have been blessed!!
