The Junior League of Hampton Roads has created a fabulous cookbook with My Mama Made That! Lots of delicious recipes with clear and easy-to-follow directions. Great ideas for all occasions. My favorites are the dips - especially That Tailgate Dip and the Islander Cheeseball. Very highly recomended!!!
I've had this cookbook for about a year, have made a number of items for friends and family and they are all absolutely delicious. The recipes are easy to follow, many don't call for a whole lot of ingredients, and a lot of them use staples you would already have in your pantry along with fresh ingredients. From appetizers to desserts you will be sure to find something that pleases your palate!
THE FIRST BOOK,VIRGINIA HOSPITALITY HAS BEEN A PERRENIAL FAVORITE FOR SEVERAL DECADES. EVERY LADY IN THE AREA USED THE BOOK CONSTANTLY! ONE RECIPE ESPECIALLY COMES TO MIND.JOHHNY MARZETTI. I WAS A LITTLE GIRL AND SAW THE NAME OF SOMEONE THAT WAS NOT MY MOTHER AS THE 'INVENTIVE SOUL OF THE RECIPE'.MOTHER EXPLAINED SO MANY LADIES PREPARED THE RECIPE THAT SHE WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL. I WAS CRUSHED. IT APPEARED ON OUR TABLE EVERY WEEK FOR AS LONG AS I RECALL. THIS SECOND ENDEAVOUR WILL BECOME THIS GENERATIONS FAVORITE AS WELL. JUST AS INDISPENSABLE AS THE FIRST. RUN AND GRAB YOUR COPY NOW AND RECEIVE THE COMPLEMENTS WITH NO EXCUSES! IT HAS ALL A NEW BRIDE OR NEW HOME-OWNER DESIRES.BUY ONE AND GIFT ONE.
This is yet another cookbook done by the Junior League of Hampton Roads. It is good, but there do not appear to be as many recipes as their Virginia Hospitality Cookbook. It would make a nice gift, though. I am not sorry that I bought it.
I love this book - the beautiful aprons fluttering in the wind capture great childhood memories for me. I've made the Bacon-wrapped Pork Tenderloin, which is quick easy and all done in the oven, and makes a wonderful reduction sauce if you want to take the drippings to the top of the stove. I also made the Grandma's Famous Pound Cake and my teenage daughter was amazed at what "REAL" pound cake is supposed to taste like. Again, super easy and a true family favorite. I love all the "Mama-isms" scattered throughout the book - I can literally hear my mom's voice at times. Funny that I now use some of the sayings when speaking to my two girls! Higly recommend this one...you'll love it! I keep it on display in my kitchen beside the matching apron - the cover is so great!
