Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Katharine Holabird's Angelina Ballerina helps children hold onto their favorite moments in My Memory Book, with plentiful illustrations of the dancing mouse by Helen Craig. Framed pages allow youngsters to slip a photo into a slot, make drawings of their own and place report cards into a pocket; there's even a spot for friends' autographs. Also available: Angelina's Dress-Up Card Game, a deck of 30 playing cards and rules for four different games; Dance of the Sunbeams, a coloring book inspired by the "Angelina in the Wings" TV episode; and Angelina Shines, in which girls can apply sparkly jewel stickers to scenes from the TV series.
Children's Literature
Angelina Ballerina is a delightful character and very popular with young girls. The team at Pleasant Company have taken a text based on the work of Katharine Holabird and have used Craig's illustrations to create a scrap book or as they call it, My Memory Book. The book is spiral bound so that the pages will lay flat and this format also allows the pockets to expand. The pages start with a young child recording information about her birth followed by a page where a photograph (baby picture) can be slipped in. The book continues to follow the child's development and has pages to record a family tree, pictures of home and the child's room, as well as pages to record information about friends, toys and activities. There is a page to record the youngster's last birthday celebration, school activities and of course the goal of what the young girls wants to be when she grows up. (We all know that Angelina wanted to dance and that she became a famous ballerina). It is a nice, neat way to assemble information and would be a good project for a series of rainy or cold days when a youngster may need to stay indoors. Years later it will be fun to look back at the record and compare what the wishes were them with the reality of whatever life is presenting at the time. 2003, Pleasant Company,
