Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
A young Spanish-speaking girl named Erica and her mother live in a hotel where her mother works as a maid/housekeeper. It is hard work and a lonely life for Erica since she is not allowed to have friends visit. Her mother, too, is lonely, so Erica has an idea. She decides to have a fiesta just for the two of them. She does manage to bring a smile to her tired mother's face, and that is all the reward that she needs. The note at the end of the book states that it was written about the thousands of immigrants from El Salvador who live in great poverty in our nation's capital.
