Barnes & Noble - Tracy E. Hopkins
On MY NAME IS JOE, sensational soul man Joe picks up where his last album, 1997’s ALL THAT I AM, left off. Basically, ladies, Joe wants to be your full-time lover. And with a dreamy voice that sounds like a cross between Donny Hathaway and Sam Cooke, he sure sounds like a viable candidate. But just in case his bedroom voice doesn't connect, his seduction-heavy lyrics spell things out. "Somebody Gotta Be on Top," for instance, isn’t exactly about climbing the corporate ladder to success. Meanwhile, when it comes to risqué business, Joe is willing to change his, um, missionary position for the steamy "Table For Two," which finds the singer offering to make his lady ...

Meanwhile, when it comes to risqué business, Joe is willing to change his, um, missionary position for the steamy "Table For Two," which finds the singer offering to make his lady the main course "let me eat it up, gonna start at you toes till I heat it up. With the album's thoughtful lead single "I Wanna Know," Joe's added yet another notch to his hit-making belt. But there's plenty of extra ammo here, including his duet with Mariah Carey, "Thank God I Found You," which is also included here. Like his mono-monikered peers Maxwell and D’Angelo, Joe is well on his way to becoming a household name.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Joe is hardly an appropriate name for a lover man -- it seems more like a moniker for a custodian than a Casanova -- but that's exactly what Joe is. He's an old-fashioned romantic soul crooner in the vein of Al Green, Marvin Gaye, D'Angelo, and, well, Gregory Abbott. He's not as ambitious as D'Angelo is, but that doesn't really matter, since he delivers the goods on his third album, My Name Is Joe. Joe never oversings or oversells a song, he just lays back and sweetly sings. There may not be much variety or many remarkable songs on the record -- "Get Crunk Tonight" stands out with its stuttering, fade-in-fade-out intro and its stylishly funky beat -- but that doesn't matter because this is essentially a mood record, and that mood is love. And it's not a bad romantic mood-setter, either, since Joe is an appealing vocalist, the production is lush without being syrupy, and the songs are all fairly strong, even if only a handful are exceptional "Somebody Gotta Be on Top," "Treat Her Like a Lady," "Get Crunk Tonight," the N'Sync duet "I Believe in You". And, really, that's enough, since anyone that gets hooked by a single from My Name Is Joe just wants an assurance that the album will deliver more of the same -- and it does.

Turn out the lights and lay back!

Joe is by far my favorite artist. I listen to ALL his alboums ALL the time. I have one in each of my three vehicles and in my computer at work! All his albums are loaded on my MP3 player for exercise purpose...yeah, he motivates me to push the envelope on working out! Joe, I consider you a poet! You're definitely writing ballads that will carry on and on. Please, put the rest of your thoughts on paper and continue to "feed" us! I love you JOE. Love Sharon

    Just ''Joe being Joe''

I did not think it was possible for Joe to release another album half as good as All that i am,but what can i say,HES GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN!!The album has a song for whatever mood im in and the best thing about Joe is that he puts so much feeling with his voice that u actually feel like he is indeed feeling u.I think this is the best idea that anyone has ever come up with coz Joe really deserves props and to see how much his music means to his fans.If you r reading this Joe,just remember always that ''no one else comes close'' and that everyday i ''thank God i found u''.My life became much more tolerable when i started listening to ure music!

I thinkJoe has a silky sexy voice!!!

I think Joe is trying to get the message a cross meaning he can be better then our men ladies. Which i bet he could be with a body and a voice like that. I have seen him in concert and i will say this he puts on a damn great show. i would also go back to one of his concerts 100 times over and over again. Joe is one of my favorite singers out there today and with his silky voice and sexy body i think he will be around for a long time. He has my vote and then some.

This cd is good from start to finish

Many times I buy cd's and I may end up only liking a few songs. Just about every song on this cd is good. Most of the music on it are slow jams....so if your looking for something to party with, look elswhere. On the other hand, its a great cd if your with that special someone : )

Joe knows how to get you where you need to go

I have had this CD for 2 weeks, and I listen to it 24/7 - in my car, in the house, while I'm with my boyfriend - you name it. The combination of Joe's voice and the lyrics to his songs has a way of getting inside of me and opening my soul. If you like to get close and dance, this CD is for you. I would love to have Joe looking into my eyes as he sings 'I Wanna Know'. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves R&B.

The best album I have heard for a long tim.

My husband name is Joe and it seems to me that all Joes are romantic and nice. I love the whole album, every song, the song I like also a lot apart from I wanna know is the song that says a table for 2 in a room with a view, I love that song and all of Joes songs are positive. One thing I would like is that Joe never forget his roots especially since both his parents are preachers, it tells him how vitally important to keep GOD as the NUMBER ONE person in his life, because all this fame and fortune will pass away and God words will always live on, so never, never forget where you came from. I know that the Lord has blessed him with a nice voice and he is a talented young man, but don't be fooled by the glitter and glamour of this life, as I write him now I can hear his song playing I wanna know, Joe's songs are positive and real and they tell you the truth all about romance.

School Is In Session, Fellas. Take Notes.

If we didn't understand the first time around how Joe wants to treat his lady; he makes sure no woman is left wondering. Treat Her Like A Lady lets all women know how we should be treated and lets all men know just what to do. Take notes, Gentlemen. Joe is definitely the teacher and school is in session. After he teaches how a woman should be treated he moves right on into the next phase with Table For Two, I hope the men are still taking notes. Class is not over. Joe is proving once again that he is a sensitive man and sensitive to a woman's needs. You go, Joe! You have my undivided attention.

    COME TO BED MUSIC!

I discovered JOE after watching his video on VH1 of a song from the 'all that I am' album, bought it, learned the words which were real sexy, bought the 'Everything' album and found I felt the same way about that album, now I have this one, which is even better than 'all that I am'....highly recommended, I wish my fella would listen the words and follow the instructions!!! EXCELLENT, but when is he coming to the UK, I just gotta see him live
