Overview

Freshman interplanetary veterinary students Taje and Giem long for an offworld summer externship with plenty of adventure, excitement, and romance. Instead their assignment on Big Maxson's Planet forces them to face wildly dangerous, monstrous animals. Kind people will help, but nefarious characters also appear. When the students uncover a disastrous break in planetary disease protection, they make a fateful decision to split up to uncover the truth. Taje and Giem encounter more adventure, excitement, romance, and pain than they ever expected. Will they survive long enough to advance to their sophomore year?

About the Author

Liz J. Andersen has a B.S. with Highest Honors in Animal Physiology and a D.V.M. degree from U.C. Davis. She is a retired, fully licensed veterinarian who also worked for many years for the Eugene Public Library. She told Tajen Jesmuhr’s early story in her first novel, Some of My Best Friends Are Human, and several stories featuring Dr. Jesmuhr in Analog Science Fiction and Science Fact. She has also edited and published her grandfather’s semi-autobiographical novel, Along The Margins, South Dakota Immigrant Homesteaders. Writing seems to run in the family.
