A job at Penthouse magazine?! At first, I was expecting some vicarious thrills through what must be a sordid account of every young man’s dream workplace and the wild things that go on at an empire built on flesh. But I was soon pleasantly surprised to find a coherent account of an actually decent sort of guy’s experience moving up the corporate ladder by both chance and his unassuming character; the various characters he met along the way; as well as behind-the-scenes corporate goings on inside a multimillion-dollar publishing house. The author has a self-deprecating, humorous but non-cheesy style of writing that is entertaining and easy to read. Oh, you do get to find out things like how one gets hired by Penthouse; whether the Dear Penthouse letters were(do they still have these?) real or not; and a glimpse at its (once prosperous in the pre-internet era) phone sex division. Was this review helpful?
