Editorial Reviews

Canadian Materials
The photos' contents do provide ample opportunity for "taking-about." Highly Recommended.

Canadian Materials - Dave Jenkinson
As the series title indicates, the supplied text is only the conversation starter. What the parent/adult and child do with the contents of the photographs after the first "reading" is up to them, but the photos' contents do provide ample opportunity for "taking-about." Highly Recommended.
Children's Literature
Part of the "talk-about-books" series, "Each story explains a different aspect of the young child's world using photographs..." The kids in this board book are the proud owners of a variety of pets. As expected there are dogs and cats, but others include hamsters, gerbils, fish and guinea pigs. None of the pictures are labeled so parents and caregivers may need to familiarize themselves with popular pets in order to answer questions such as "what is it?" The text is more focused on what one does with a pet, caring for them which includes a visit to the veterinarian and the sheer joy of having a pet for a friend. 2003, Anick Press, Ages 2 to 5.
