Overview

Meet the courageous men of the Inferno Club as they face their greatest challenge yet: marriage!

Sebastian, Viscount Beauchamp, lives by a code of honor, and now honor dictates he must marry Miss Carissa Portland. He has no regrets over stealing a kiss from the adorable little busybody—a fitting punishment for putting her delectable nose where it didn't belong. But now, caught in a compromising situation, he knows he must make her his bride. He's faced danger before—but nothing like this!

Carissa is not a gossip—she's a "lady of information." And all she was trying to do was warn the rakehell Beauchamp away from an irate husband. But even she can't flaunt Society, and while her head tells her that Beau's a notorious scoundrel, her heart—and her body—are captivated by his dangerous charm. But when Carissa next goes snooping, the secrets she uncovers about the Inferno Club may prove even more hazardous than falling in love with her own husband.

I love series books and this is a great one! When I started this series, there were only the first three. Now I'm looking forward to Trevor's and Nick's stories.

My Scandalous Viscount is the fifth book in the very popular The Inferno Club series, and true to form, Gaelen Foley has penned a romantic, sexy, exciting tale that kept me up far too late into the night, unable to put it down!

If you’re a fan of historical romance, as I am, then you’ve probably already had the pleasure of reading the written art of Gaelen Foley. You know what I mean when I say that her stories have a level of substance to them that is often lacking in this genre. That’s not to say that they’re heavy, or angsty beyond bearing, but the characters aren’t just words on the page. They become living and breathing people – people I want to know better. I want to know what compels them to do the things they do, their thoughts, their actions - and Ms. Foley gives me that, and more.

I have to admit, I'm a hero driven reader, and Sebastian, Viscount Beauchamp, is my kind of hero! Sexy, exciting, witty, and with a sense of vulnerability about him that makes me want to steal him away and keep him for my very own. I often feel sorry for the heroines of any book I read, because I tend to make them work harder for my affection than I do the hero. And Carissa, while there were moments I wanted to throttle her, turned out to be a wonderful heroine, the kind of woman I would want for Sebastian’s happily ever after - if I can't have him for myself, that is.

The bottom line: My Scandalous Viscount has everything I love in my historical romance reads; excitement, intrigue, romance, passion, humor, and most of all, amazing characters whose lives and loves, and whose trials and triumphs keep me completely invested and coming back for more!

My thanks to Avon Books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What a pleasure it’s been!

    Far From the Author's Best

Before this book, I never would've imagined that Gaelen Foley could write a bad book. Even though I've mostly been kind of "meh" about the Inferno Club series, for the most part they've been enjoyable if not to the standard of so many of her early romances (The Duke, Princess, Lady of Desire). My Scandalous Viscount was so mediocre though that I'm astonished it was written by Foley. My biggest issue is with the numerous contemporary colloquialisms that are scattered throughout, such as the heroine repeatedly saying, "Ugh," the hero calling his aristocratic father "Dad" and a character talking about how he hasn't been "laid" in six months. I really doubt anyone talked that way in Regency England, and the mistakes are both jarring and amateurish which is not something I'd ever expect from a writer of Foley's caliber. Another issue is that the heroine is not that likeable. She calls herself a "lady of information" but really is just a snoop who has to know everyone's business, a far from charming trait. The story itself was serviceable although it's clear Foley had run out of steam since the series' bad guys were essentially eliminated in the previous book. Finally the big misunderstanding that tore the hero and heroine apart is literally swept aside and barely acknowledged. Here's hoping this was an anomaly and the next book is better.

    A little disappointed

I love gaelen foley's books, but this one was a little disappointing . Was not as in depth as her others. Was missing some of the intrigue her other books had. However, she is a great writer and I will continue to read her books.

    Lacking in passion

I've been a fan of Foley's books especially her first series featuring the Knight family. This book, while well-written, is lacking in character development and passion.

    Very good!

I read the first 4 books in this series and was anticipating this book coming out. It was a great read! Not my favorite in the series but definitely a sweet page turner. Its been a few months since I read the first four Inferno series books so now I'm reading them again from the beginning - love this series!
