A riveting suspense thriller that explores the special bond between a brother and sister. After his reporter-sister is brutally attacked investigating the rape of a 13-year old, Richard Baimbridge moves back to his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina, to assist his family with her recovery and comes face to face with his tormented past and a dark family secret.
Despised by his father, haunted by his past, and fighting to stay above the flood of childhood trauma, he longs to return to the life he'd built. But when the police exhaust all leads, his wheelchair-bound sister refuses to let her case die. With Richard as her legs, she draws him into the dark underside of Wilmington, a world of sex, violence, and murder where Richard, himself, becomes the primary suspect in the murders of Wilmington’s young girls. Desperate to learn the truth about his family and drowning in a sea of damning evidence and rumor, Richard battles to prove his innocence and discovers the man he was intended to be.
I found it hard to put down. Very good storyline with much suspense

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time! The fast-paced whirlwind of suspense kept me flipping pages from the edge of my seat. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more copies to give as Christmas gifts last year! This is only the first in what's bound to be a long list of best-sellers for this exciting, new author!

The story was outstanding!!!One of the best mysteries I have read in a long time. The details, the feelings, the suspence....WONDERFUL!!! I felt like i was there! This book is one of the very few books out there that gives you an understanding of what actually goes on in the world. I COULDN'T STOP READING IT! I have read many books.... but not one as good as this one.

Unrealistic situations happen to characters I never warmed up to. A lot of extremely irrational behavior. Most main characters are injured to near death, only to be up and doing super human things the next day. Maybe if this was science fiction... but as a suspense/ mystery, it was just silly. I read a lot, but these were some of the most unlikable, irrational characters I've encountered in some time.

This book was poorly written, typos abounded, and the lead character, Richard Baimbridge, was the most stupid person I have ever read about. I figured all the "mysteries" out within 200 pages, and only marveled at the fact that I didn't abandon it completely. The stilted prose was at least helpful in curing my insomnia.
I'm so glad I only spent 89 cents on this one.

Writing was a bit amateurish, many situations downright unbelievavle. Lack of editing was very distracting.

I was really into this book for about the first 3/4 of it, but then it started to seem a bit too far fetched, for lack of better words. Several parts of the plot left me scratching my head wondering how anyone with common sense wouldn't have already solved the mystery. Some of the more personal narrative portions of the book could have been left out. For example, Richard's love for Sydney. Yeah, we got it. No need to repeat it four or five times.

I made myself stick with this book for 50 pages to give it a fair shot, but i can't do it. The writing is so bad. This book is written at a high school level at best.

Sorry, but I can't give this book a rave review. For the price, though, it was OK. It started out strong, and many of the plot twists were riveting, but Richie's headlong rush into danger again and again began to be very annoying. Did he have a death wish? By the time I was half way through the novel, I found myself skipping multiple paragraphs describing his torments, most of which he ran into headlong, without thinking. I did finish the book, but don't think I will rush out to by the next book by this author. The pagination of the book was also disturbing, as one page turn would skip from page 345 to 348 and so on. No real pattern.

This book is perfect for a cold night in front of the fireplace, a lazy vacation or a day with nothing better to do. It makes for a good, suspenseful read without having to think or analyze; suspenseful, with some interesting twists and turns and a look behind bourgeois southern facades. Recommend for lovers of easy read thrillers and mystery suspense novels.

Although this book was exciting, it was almost unbelievable. I also felt like it expanded on unecessary parts and didnt expand on parts that were more relevant. I also found multiple editing, which was distracting. Overall, its a good concept, but not the best writing.

The storyline was unrealistic, the prose was poor, and the dialogue was pathetic. Made me wonder how it got published in the first place. Disappointing.
