Overview

A USA TODAY Bestseller.

This book is recommended for readers over the age of 18 due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

From the author of the #1 bestselling romance, Jake Undone, comes a friends-to-lovers story of longing, passion, betrayal and redemption...with a twist that will rip your heart out.

Skylar was my best friend, but I secretly pined for her. One thing after another kept us apart, and I've spent the last decade in fear of losing her forever.

First, it was the cancer, but she survived only to face the unthinkable at my hands. Because of me, she left town. For years, I thought I'd never see her again.

But now she's back...and living with him.

I don't deserve her after everything I've put her through, but I can't live without her. This is my last chance because she's about to make the biggest mistake of her life. I can see it her eyes: she doesn't love him. She still loves me...which is why I have to stop her before it's too late.

My Skylar is a STANDALONE story of 99,000 words and a companion to the novel, Jake Undone. It does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

"To give this breathtaking story five stars feels like such a vast understatement. It's times like these I think there should be a bonus option for ratings, because Ward's latest work really is one of those books that is so much more than just a great read. With My Skylar, she gives her readers an absolutely exquisite and heart-wrenchingly beautiful romance."

**5 Stars** I really enjoyed "Jake Undone" & didn't know if I would like "My Skylar" (just knew it would be so sad..& it is a tear jerker) I'm so glad I borrowed it/read it in 2 days! These characters are amazing...Skylar is so much like my best friend LoL says whats on her mine & just a all around wonderful character. Mitch is WoW what a man! I also liked how some of the chapters ended w/ a peak at what was going to happen next..."I didn't know then that the worst was yet to come" **Explicit Language & Love Scenes** **288 pages w/ a good Epilogue**

I got this book as a freebie on the Romance Read of the month Club and loved it! thesecretworldofbooklovers.blogspot I couldn't put it down, it's a heartbreaking story about two people that met when they didn't even know what love was, but have been in love with each other ever since. Mitch and Sky were best friends and then life got in the way and they had to part. But lucky for them the universe still had some plans for the two and they kept meeting through life, but the timing was always off. I found myself feeling sorry for them, life can't seem to give them a break and even though some might think of this story as a tragedy, it's really a Love story. Real life love, where there's pain, illness and overall things are not fair. The world tried to break them down but their love was always there, even through the unthinkable, when they thought there was nothing left, love found a way back. I connected with the characters in such a deep level, that I was unhappy when they were and I couldn't wait to keep reading to see if they were going to find their way back to each other. Even when they were doing the wrong thing, I still understood. Their love couldn't abide by the rules, it was timeless and couldn't be limited. They fought to do the right thing but they both realised in the end how miserable that made them. They couldn't breathe without the other, it was like leaving half a life. I'm in love with their story!

Loved this book! It was an emotional story. Mitch and Skylar meet when they're kids about 10 and 11, They become friends but after a few months Mitch has to move away. She sees him again when they are around 15 or 16 at a party. She does not like the person he has become but still stays his friends. Skylar becomes sick with cancer he sticks by her side. Eventually she is okay and they move on with their lives. This story has so many twists and turns. They finally try to be together but he finds out he got a girl pregnant and Skylar takes off. When they finally meet again Mitch is a dad with an Autism boy and Skylar is an engaged Interior Decorator. In the end they finally get together and have the life they always dreamed about.

I don't typically have such strong emotions to books that make me ugly cry. But, with this book, the story drew me in, kept me there, and then ripped every emotion out of me that I went through am entire box of tissues. I took my time with this book, savored each chapter, re-read when I had to stop, and was completely and totally wrapped into the story. Amazing read by an amazing author.

Unbelievable! This story was so touching and heart wrenching. I wanted to scream, cry and laugh all at the same time. I can't even articulate how wonderful the storytelling was in Skylar and Mitch's story. No lie, I wanted to throw my ereader more than a few times. Such a great story.

This book had me crying more times than I care to admit.

Unfortunately, I couldn't connect with these characters or the writing. The majority of the plot was told through internal dialogue that tended to slow the pacing.

I read it in one day so what does that tell you. P-dubs (I hope it's okay to call you that...lol)I was amazed by Skylar & Mitch's story from start to finish. The writing that went into intricately telling this heart-wrenching tale about finding the Love you'd never thought you'd have not once, but twice in a lifetime was amazing & felt so real as I was reading. You have definitely been added to my top newly discovered authors & I can't wait to read more by you! Happy Reading!!

So much angst that I had to take a break! I really felt for these characters, it was a beautiful story that started when our characters were 10 years old and followed them well into adulthood. So many twists and turns, yet almost completely believable. Loved seeing characters from other stories and I look forward to many, many more stories from Penelope Ward. I read this as a Romance Club Read of the Month for January.

Skylar and Mitch are destined to be together... It just takes 10 years to get there. There is a LOT of heartbreak (maybe a little too much, in my opinion.) Also, part of the storyline was annoying. I love angst and real life issues written into stories but this one was a turn off.

It is interesting to see Ms. Ward be able to include so mucg heartache in a love story. I like that she is not afraid to put her characters through things. Some might expect to have a typical one big issue that separates the characters but not in this book. Ms. Ward was able to pact on the hearache for Skylar and Mitch - but such is life ins't ir?

Another amazing read from Mrs. Ward for sure. This is the story of Mitch and Skylar, and they never stop loving each other, or fighting for each other. Her books are always full of love and deep amazing characters and that you want to hug them and love them over and over and over again. I loved the meaning behind this story most of all: how second chances are wonderful, and never give up fighting for what you love: miracles can happen at any time and any place. Such a truly beautiful and touching story, and I loved seeing some old faces as well (Jake and Nina eeeepp!!) Penelope's writing style is amazing. Her characters are deep and beautiful. You'll never be disappointed with any of her stories. All of them are must reads for sure. If you haven't checked any of her books out, your truly missing out ;)
