A ‘friends to lovers’ romance

Life’s tough. I can’t argue with that. I’m not referring to being blind. That brings its own challenges, but I’ve never let it hold me back from doing anything I wanted to do. I’m talking about losing my partner before the age of thirty. I thought I had it all figured out—marriage, kids, the whole parcel, neatly tied up with a bow, but it wasn’t meant to be. While Will lay dying, he made me promise never to love anyone else. I did, of course, because that’s what you do, and I meant it, at the time. And then I met Ethan.

We’ve talked online since forever, but on New Year’s Eve something changed. For the first time in four years, he made me feel alive. He makes me think about the future. And that’s where the problems started. Being friends is one thing. But loving another man? I’ve promised never to do that, but I’m lonely, and I’m ready to move on. Can I put the past behind me, and start over?

I’m crazy about this girl, but we haven’t yet made the step to being lovers. Even though Teddi is the one who said she needed time, it’s not all down to her. It should be easy. I like her, she likes me. And yet it’s so damn complicated. She’s a billionaire, for one thing. For me there’s always too much month left at the end of the money, and it’s hard for a guy to play the Cinderella role. Also, my two young daughters don’t know I’m dating again. Beth’s too young to remember her mother, but Maddie will go nuclear on my ass when she finds out. So, true guy style, I haven’t told them yet.

We can’t carry on like this forever, though. I want Teddi—she lights a fire I can’t extinguish, and if I don’t have her soon I’ll spontaneously combust. On Valentine’s Day, we go to her brother’s party, and there I decide it’s time to let go of the past. I’m going to seduce her and show her how much I want her. I’ll be slow, careful, and thoughtful, and I won’t rush it.

Unbeknown to me, Teddi has other, better, plans.

This was the book I have been waiting for Teddi's story and I have to say it's my favourite book in the series and it was well worth the wait. Teddi and Ethan have been friends online for a while, then one night they discover they live not far from one another and they set up a coffee date. Both have previously been in love term relationships that ended tragically, Ethan losing his wife in a car accident and Teddi losing her partner suddenly to an illness. Both are facing the same question how long do you mourn and when is it time to move on. Will Ethan and Teddi be able to move forward with their relationship when they seem to have so many obstacles in there way, but obstacles are one thing Teddi is used to getting past after all she has fought all her life for people not to take her blindness as a disability to accept her as the strong independent woman she is but she has never had to deal with 2 little girls who still miss their mum.. This is a beautifully written story and I'm thinking the author must have done a lot of research into the problems that blind people deal with day in day out and what equipment is there for them to make life a bit easier. I'm sad to see this series end but it's a series I will be reading again. A perfect end to a wonderful series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

My Valentine Seduction is the third and final book in Serenity Woods’ Love Comes Later Series. This one focuses on the third partner of the New Zealand based video company Katoa. Her name is Theodora “Teddi” Parker and she just so happens to be blind. However, she is the most capable and courageous blind person that I have ever known. Her boyfriend died unexpectedly four years ago and although she has been perpetually heartbroken, she is an astute marketing director and the company continues to flourish. As she is ringing in the New Year alone at home playing an online video game with other online companions as her alter ego “Bear”, she ends up chatting up another familiar gamer called “Eb”. They both began to open up and realize that they have both suffered a tremendous loss. “Eb” lost his wife two years ago and is a single father of two girls, ages five and nine. Teddi later learns that his name is actually Ethan and they don’t live too far from each other. Not wanting to deny their connection, they agree to meet in person and sparks begin to fly. As they get closer and more intimate, Ethan realizes that the only thing that can get in the way of their happily ever after is how his girls will react to the fact that Ethan has a new woman in his life. His youngest daughter has no issue with it but his nine-year-old is defiant and very much loyal to her deceased mother. Teddi and Ethan are determined to move forward and try to work it out with the girls while being sensitive to their situation. I really appreciate how Serenity Woods didn’t make this love affair easy for them. She did a great job of showing how it’s difficult to overcome loss and not feel like you are betraying your deceased loved one by moving forward and allowing yourself to love again. In addition, I was impressed by the way Teddi approached life and never saw her blindness as a crutch. Having now read two series by Serenity Woods. I am definitely a fan. I can’t wait to see what she creates next. **Received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed the book.**

My Valentine Seduction is a wonderful conclusion to the Love Comes Later Series. I've admired Teddi since she was introduced in Book 1: My Christmas Fling. She is a very intelligent, hard-working, independent woman. She also happens to be blind. She doesn't view her blindness as a disability. It is simply part of who she is. I love that aspect of her life. So many people with a disability are portrayed as if the disability is what they are first and foremost. The rest of their personality and life are like an afterthought. I love this realistic depiction. Ethan is terrific! He never has any qualms about being with Teddi because of her blindness. He is curious and wants to know all about her condition. Mainly, he wants to know what is acceptable to Teddi concerning how to treat her. He is a gentleman and doesn't want her to feel he is doing things because he thinks she can't. I really wish he had taken Maddie to task about her behavior earlier. A 9 year old should never have been allowed to talk to her father the way she did. I realize there were extenuating circumstances but they should have been addressed long before Maddie got to that point. Also, Ethan should have put his foot down about Maddie being around Pearl. At the very least, he should have had a talk with Pearl's parents. I would have liked the story to have continued to develop after Teddi and Maddie made a tentative truce. Instead, it jumped ahead 6 months. The relationship between Teddi, Maddie, and Beth was too important to skip over, IMO. I loved the Epilogue! It gave us a final glimpse into the lives of all 3 couples a year later. I loved having that closure. It made a terrific ending for the series. I highly recommend reading the Love Comes Later Series! Each book can be read as a standalone but the stories will be more meaningful if read in order. I totally recommend all books written by Serenity Woods.

Great wrap-up to a sweet holiday trilogy. Having met Teddi is the previous books, I was excited to read her story. She is such an interesting character and not just because she is blind. She is fiercely independent, but not afraid to ask for help when she needs it. Having lost her first and only partner four years ago, Teddi is still scared to take the next step with anyone. Ethan was widowed two year ago and just starting to feel like he might be able to start dating again, but with two young daughters, he just feels out of place. Teddi and Ethan have known each other online for years; they play in the same guild or group in the Dark Robot game. While ringing in the new year online instead of with friends and family, the two get to talking about more personal things in the offline lives. The interactions and tension between these two was awesome! There was a slow lead-up to them taking that final step of intimacy, having decided they both deserved to be happy rather than grieving and alone. Until that point, it did seem like their guilt over moving on and sadness from their losses might derail this wonderful relationship. One of the things I liked most about this particular holiday trilogy was how the books were spaced out. We went from Christmas to New Year's to Valentine's Day. The big finale or moment for each couple may not have happened on the specific holidays' day, but it was the slow build of everyone's happiness around those days. The ending was a little too sweet and cute for me, but I fully understand wanting to see our cast of couples one last time before their futures are set free in our imaginations. I have been waiting to read Teddi's story, as she is an intriguing character. The last of the Katoa founders to find love, Teddi is a strong, independent but lonely professional woman who doesn't let her blindness define her. It was illuminating to read how she coped and the love that grew between her and Ethan was lovely to read about. I loved the humour particularly when Ethan's girls met Teddi - "I love dogs," Beth says eagerly. "Am I allowed to stroke her?" "No," Maddie snaps. "She's a blind dog." "She's not blind," I say cheerfully. "She has very good vision." Note: Strong language from the outset. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author and voluntarily chose to review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review.

My Valentine Seduction by Serenity Woods Love Comes Later #3 My favorite book of this series and definitely worth reading! Ethan was a super duper book boyfriend and Teddi and he were so very good together! In this novel the two main characters have lost their partners in the last few years and know one another through gaming together in groups online. On New Year’s Eve they talk to one another after playing a game and as they talk they share more than a little, see the New Year in - together though apart - and feel a spark of interest that leads them to actually meeting soon thereafter. Teddi is blind from a childhood disease. Ethan has two young daughters to care for. There are issues the two must face but they do so together openly and honestly and in so doing, over a period of time, fall in love with one another. I won’t say more about the story itself except to say that I thoroughly recommend it. You ask why? Well: I loved the characters. I loved the story. I loved the dialogue. I loved the honesty between Ethan and Teddi. I loved the believability. I loved having a chance to see the characters from the first two books in the series. Did I mention that…I love this book? Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review. 5 Stars

Wow. I was so sad when I realized this was the end. We met Stratton, Rich, and Teddi when they were all struggling with Will's death, and now, they have worked their way through to happiness. I loved Ethan and Teddi. This was such a good romance. It had so many aspects to overcome at the same time, it seemed almost improbable an HEA could occur. They both lost their partners and still mourned deeply for them. Teddi was blind. Ethan had two young daughters, one carrying a good deal of anger. I admired the way both Ethan and Teddi handled her blindness. They were so right for each other, and so honest with their feelings. Just the way they laid out their doubts and fears was somewhat unique. This story was sweet, sexy, and engaging. I was thoroughly enthralled from start to finish. The ending was bittersweet, but I did love the way it ended. I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.
