Meet the Author

Krystal Shannan goes to sleep every night dreaming of mythical realms with werewolves, vampires, fae, and dragons. Occasional a fabulous, completely human story slips into the mix, but powers and abilities usually crop up without fail, twisting reality into whatever her mind can conceive.

As a child, her parents encouraged her interests in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology and all things historical and magickal. As an adult, the interests only grew. She is a child of Neverland and refuses to ever stop believing in fairies. She is guilty of indulging in and being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer groupie as well as an Angel fan. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of Joss Whedon, you are missing out!

She also makes sure to watch as many action and adventure movies as possible. The more exciting the better. Yippee-Ki-Yay... If you don't know the end of that phrase, then you probably don't like the same movies.

She enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. Her favorite book is ACHERON by Sherrilyn Kenyon. But really, if it has a 'Happily Ever After', she's on board!

Krystal writes stories full of action, snark, magick, a little bit of humor, and heart-felt emotion. If you are looking for leisurely-paced sweet romance, her books are probably not for you. However, for those looking for a magickal ride, filled with adventure, passion, and just a hint of humor. Welcome home.

New to me author. What a great book. This is a paranormal lovers dream book. It gives us so many Other worldly beings all in one place. This book is in the future and some states now allow others to coexist peacefully. Bailey Ross is running from an abusive ex and ends up in a bus station smelling horrible and hungry. Enter one Djinn named Marcus who is wanting to get at her for some reason but then Erick appears. He is a protector and Vampire and offers to take her to his home in Sanctuary. This is where we are introduced to so many other beings. Knowing she does not have much choice and needs to hide she agrees to go with him. So much happens and I am not going to give you spoilers so let me just say. Grab this book and read !! I hope that this is the beginning of a series of books because it was fantastic and I highly recommend !! I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review

'I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as part of a blog tour.' Bailey Ross is on the run from her crazy ex. She knows that if he finds her he is going to kill her. She has been running for a while now and he always finds her. Not only does she have him after her but she has caught the attention of a Djinn. They enjoy the pain and suffering of others and if he gets her she's dead for sure. So she decides to hide in plain site where there are crowds. At least until she can get away. Then she meets Erick Thorson. A Vampire. She's unsure if she should trust him. With her being single there are many dangers for her. She really has no choice though if she wants to survive. Erick was instantly drawn to Bailey which surprises him as he has not been drawn to a human in a long time. He normally tries to stay away from them. He can tell how scared she is. That is what drew him to her in the first place. When he finds out his biggest enemy is after her as well as her ex he knows then and there that he will offer her his protection no matter what. He wants more though. He wants forever. My rating: 5 Hearts Heat rating: 4 Hearts My Opinion: Hot! Krystal's books definitely get better and steamier every time. I love the yummy hotness that is Erick. However as yummy as I thought this one was I can't wait until the dragon's story. I'm sure that one will be full of steamy hotness! My Viking Vampire is full of paranormals, good and bad. Evil humans. A totally different world where paranormals are out in the open and they don't mix very well with the humans except for in Texas. This book has steamy love scenes, danger, friendship, magic, vampires, werewolves, adorable pixies and more! I definitely recommend reading and I know I am eagerly waiting for what comes next! It's like the author pulled pieces of every best seller and put it in to one. Hey, let's do vampires, shifters, heck-all supernaturals and put them in post America. Then we'll add in some shades of gray. All it needs is aliens and hunger games. Have some creativity. If you like brain trash this is for you. Literally the dumbest read ever.

I reach page 140 and just couldn't finish the last 50 pages. I really liked the other story I read by this author, but this one was just a constant struggle to get into. I think the main problem is there were too many elements to the story and it ended up bringing the whole thing down. If it had just been a paranormal or a dystopian future or a erotic/bdsm or a even a simple contemporary romance it would have worked better. This was a case of too much of a good thing. All of these types of stories are popular, but when you try and incorporate it into one story it is a bit much, especially for a novella. I did like the couple, but the action was strangely paced it jumped from intense action to mundane everyday events and then back. It didn't flow smoothly and the female lead was a little weak for my taste. I understand she had a traumatic past, but all the negativity made it hard for me to root for her. I wanted to love it, but in the end I just couldn't even finish it. Back to the Vegas Mates, hope story two in that one is as good as the first.

Good Golly Miss Molly! I love it! My Vampire Viking is the first novel in Krystal Shannon's new series-Sanctuary, Texas and it is AWESOME! Shannon's boundless imagination, incredible talent and unique style shine brightly in this powerful story of loss, bravery, determination, hope, recovery, healing and love-paranormal style. The story is original, exciting, powerful, compelling, thrilling, heart wrenching, romantic, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, sassy and very well written. The characters are imaginative, captivating, intriguing and sexy as sin! They are quite literally, out of this world! They jump off the page, grab your imagination and capture your heart. Vampires! Lycans! Dragons! Pixies! Brownies! Sirens! Witches! Lamassu! Djinn! And a whole lot more! Oh my! Beautiful human, Bailey Ross aka Bailey D'Roth has been on the run for four years from her abusive psychotic ex and he just will not give up and now he has hired a Djinn to find her. Bailey has been beaten, battered, bruised and tortured but her scarred body and broken soul refuse to give up. She will never be chained, caged or tortured again. She will fight to remain free-even if it means her death because death would be a relief compared to the punishment she has already suffered. He's found her again and she must run-again. But as Bailey tries to flee for her life, she never expects to find help from vampire Other, Erick Thorson and she certainly never ever expected to be so attracted to this handsome sexy vampire. Viking, Erick Thorson, has been a vampire for almost two thousand years and has not loved since he lost his beloved Elinor almost a thousand years ago. But when he first saw beautiful brave Bailey, he knew she was special and resolves to help her. He desires Bailey and knows that he could easily love her but realizes that he must proceed cautiously or he may risk losing her forever. Will Erick and his town of Others be able to keep Bailey safe? Can Bailey defeat her demons, both real and emotional, and learn to trust again? Will she finally find safety and a home - a sanctuary? Maybe, just maybe, there is hope in Sanctuary, Texas! Handsome sexy vampire-check! Beautiful brave heroine-check! Large cast of paranormal/supernatural beings-check! Suspense, action and magickal clothes-check! Yep, I said magickal clothes! Romance, steamy sex and a smidge of BDSM-check, check and check! Yeah baby! This story has it all! Leave it to Krystal Shannon to give us an all you can eat buffet! I was turning the pages so fast, my IPad couldn't keep up! I was totally enthralled! And last but not least, it's a stand alone novel. No cliffhangers. Even so, I can hardly wait to read the next book in this amazing series! Who doesn't love sexy dragons! Awesome read and fabulous entertainment!

Great book. Loved the characters. Would have given 5 stars except I'm getting bored with the FSOG sex scenes so many authors want to use now. Not everyone wants to read about "the lifestyle ". Does nothing for me. Do plan on buying next book though.

Really need to keep the start of each chapter free from the large letter that keep the reader from reading that page. I lost a lot of the reading process. Would not read another book because of it.

I enjoyed this book. The main characters were fleshed out enough to seem like real people. The sex scenes were hot. But I could do entirely without the dominant / submissive routine. I will say that it wasn't too graphic or objectionable for me to be able to read--it was handled nicely. (Almost like she was taking the reader on the same trip of exploration and discovery that Bailey was on, to help / educate us rather than Bailey.) I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

My Viking Vampire is book one in the Sanctuary, Texas series by Krystal Shannan. It is August of the year 2096. It’s been fifty years since the discovery of “the others.” Since the world learned of the existence of supernatural beings. This knowledge sparked riots and the fall of the world as we knew it. There were only four states that opened their doors to the others, Texas being one of them. That is where Bailey Ross is currently living, in Fort Worth. But her time is up and she has to move on. That’s the way it’s been for the last five years. Since the day she ran from her horribly abusive ex, Kevin Holt. But he always seems to find her and each time, she runs again. This time, though, her problems are doubled. She finds herself being followed by a supernatural man. So as she is sitting in the bus station, hoping to stay hidden from him while she waits for her bus, a vampire sits beside her, explaining that the one that has been following her is a Djinn, and he is dangerous. So he vows to protect her. He convinces her to accompany him to his home in Sanctuary, Texas, and that he will keep her safe. Bailey has no where else to go. She has no money, she’s starving and scared. It is against everything she knows to trust this vampire but there is something about him that calms her. So she says yes. “I was so tired of running. Maybe it was time to take a chance on a man again, even a supernatural one.” Erick Thorson is a vampire who is thousands of years old. He is one of four protectors that live in the town of Sanctuary, Texas. It is a town they specifically built for themselves. There are all kinds of supernaturals in this town, lycan, witches, vampires, pixies, dragons, and many more. They all find a way to live together, working together to protect what is important to them. Erick is drawn immediately to Bailey. It is not allowed to bring humans in to Sanctuary. But he can’t leaver her here. In the deepest part of himself, he can already hear the word wanting to escape, “mine.” Bailey was tortured by her ex, Kevin. She has the scars to remind her of what a man can do. Her instincts tell her not to trust this beautiful vampire, but there is something about him, something that draws her to him. She believes him when he says he wants to keep her safe. Once they get to Sanctuary, she falls in love with this little town. But she knows Kevin will come looking for her and now the Djinn as well. She will bring danger to these people that have shown her so much kindness. She knows she will have to run again but hopefully she will be given a little time here with this sex-god of a vampire. “Something about this town called to me. It said I belonged.” It doesn’t take long for the attraction between Bailey and Erick to turn to more. These two together did not lack for chemistry. It seems there is more than just chance, though, that led Erick to Bailey. That perhaps her arrival in the town was destined. Even as the connection between she and Erick deepen, though, her fears that were beaten in to her by her ex, threaten to tear them apart. And danger is lurking, threatening not only Bailey, but the entire town. I had read a few of this author’s shorter stories and had been looking at this series for awhile now. Thinking that it sounds like something I would really like. Well, it was and so much more. I loved it. I could not put it down. I am in love with this town and all its residents.

Wow what can I say I pulled an all nighter on this book I loved it. I suffered with the Heroine Bailey from the beginning and fell in love with her hero Erick (if there was such a thing as vampires I would love them to be like him). I loved the storyline it was something different from the normal paranormal books I have read. Loads of things happing to keep you interested and falling with the characters from the story. I was a bit sad when I finished the book as I would love to know what happens next with these two. You will not be disappointed when you read this an absolutely lovely story with a lot of what you expect and more from a Paranormal Book. if I could give it more than 5 stars I would one of the best book I read in a long while.

Not your everyday girl meets sexy vamp story. There is a vulnerability in the main characters that even if you haven't been touched by violence yourself, makes you understand and feel for them. It's beautifully written with very few wording/grammatical errors like so many others. Of course there is a happy ending, but it wasn't all roses and rainbows to get there. It kept my interest and was easy to follow. Great job!

Such a desperate time we humans have created in this story! The uniqueness of the community of "Others" is so exciting. The dialogue is especially entertaining and the strength the characters embody in caring and understanding give the horror of lost love and physical abuse a platform to heal! Wonderful start to a great series!

Initial story line was intriguing, but that's all there is. Interesting characters, but I could predict what was coming. Don't bother. There are so many better books out there.

This book had it all: a story, character development and suspense. Oh yes, and juicy, hot sex.
