Meet the Author

Krystal Shannan goes to sleep every night dreaming of mythical realms with werewolves, vampires, fae, and dragons. Occasional a fabulous, completely human story slips into the mix, but powers and abilities usually crop up without fail, twisting reality into whatever her mind can conceive.

As a child, her parents encouraged her interests in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology and all things historical and magickal. As an adult, the interests only grew. She is a child of Neverland and refuses to ever stop believing in fairies. She is guilty of indulging in and being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer groupie as well as an Angel fan. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of Joss Whedon, you are missing out!

She also makes sure to watch as many action and adventure movies as possible. The more exciting the better. Yippee-Ki-Yay... If you don't know the end of that phrase, then you probably don't like the same movies.

She enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. Her favorite book is ACHERON by Sherrilyn Kenyon. But really, if it has a 'Happily Ever After', she's on board!

Krystal writes stories full of action, snark, magick, a little bit of humor, and heart-felt emotion. If you are looking for leisurely-paced sweet romance, her books are probably not for you. However, for those looking for a magickal ride, filled with adventure, passion, and just a hint of humor. Welcome home.

New to me author. What a great book. This is a paranormal lovers dream book. It gives us so many Other worldly beings all in one place. This book is in the future and some states now allow others to coexist peacefully. Bailey Ross is running from an abusive ex and ends up in a bus station smelling horrible and hungry. Enter one Djinn named Marcus who is wanting to get at her for some reason but then Erick appears. He is a protector and Vampire and offers to take her to his home in Sanctuary. This is where we are introduced to so many other beings. Knowing she does not have much choice and needs to hide she agrees to go with him. So much happens and I am not going to give you spoilers so let me just say. Grab this book and read !! I hope that this is the beginning of a series of books because it was fantastic and I highly recommend !! I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review

'I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as part of a blog tour.' Bailey Ross is on the run from her crazy ex. She knows that if he finds her he is going to kill her. She has been running for a while now and he always finds her. Not only does she have him after her but she has caught the attention of a Djinn. They enjoy the pain and suffering of others and if he gets her she's dead for sure. So she decides to hide in plain site where there are crowds. At least until she can get away. Then she meets Erick Thorson. A Vampire. She's unsure if she should trust him. With her being single there are many dangers for her. She really has no choice though if she wants to survive. Erick was instantly drawn to Bailey which surprises him as he has not been drawn to a human in a long time. He normally tries to stay away from them. He can tell how scared she is. That is what drew him to her in the first place. When he finds out his biggest enemy is after her as well as her ex he knows then and there that he will offer her his protection no matter what. He wants more though. He wants forever. My rating: 5 Hearts Heat rating: 4 Hearts My Opinion: Hot! Krystal's books definitely get better and steamier every time. I love the yummy hotness that is Erick. However as yummy as I thought this one was I can't wait until the dragon's story. I'm sure that one will be full of steamy hotness! My Viking Vampire is full of paranormals, good and bad. Evil humans. A totally different world where paranormals are out in the open and they don't mix very well with the humans except for in Texas. This book has steamy love scenes, danger, friendship, magic, vampires, werewolves, adorable pixies and more! I definitely recommend reading and I know I am eagerly waiting for what comes next! I reach page 140 and just couldn't finish the last 50 pages. I really liked the other story I read by this author, but this one was just a constant struggle to get into. I think the main problem is there were too many elements to the story and it ended up bringing the whole thing down. If it had just been a paranormal or a dystopian future or a erotic/bdsm or a even a simple contemporary romance it would have worked better. This was a case of too much of a good thing. All of these types of stories are popular, but when you try and incorporate it into one story it is a bit much, especially for a novella. I did like the couple, but the action was strangely paced it jumped from intense action to mundane everyday events and then back. It didn't flow smoothly and the female lead was a little weak for my taste. I understand she had a traumatic past, but all the negativity made it hard for me to root for her. I wanted to love it, but in the end I just couldn't even finish it. Back to the Vegas Mates, hope story two in that one is as good as the first.

Good Golly Miss Molly! I love it! My Vampire Viking is the first novel in Krystal Shannon's new series-Sanctuary, Texas and it is AWESOME! Shannon's boundless imagination, incredible talent and unique style shine brightly in this powerful story of loss, bravery, determination, hope, recovery, healing and love-paranormal style. The story is original, exciting, powerful, compelling, thrilling, heart wrenching, romantic, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, sassy and very well written. The characters are imaginative, captivating, intriguing and sexy as sin! They are quite literally, out of this world! They jump off the page, grab your imagination and capture your heart. Vampires! Lycans! Dragons! Pixies! Brownies! Sirens! Witches! Lamassu! Djinn! And a whole lot more! Oh my! Beautiful human, Bailey Ross aka Bailey D'Roth has been on the run for four years from her abusive psychotic ex and he just will not give up and now he has hired a Djinn to find her. Bailey has been beaten, battered, bruised and tortured but her scarred body and broken soul refuse to give up. She will never be chained, caged or tortured again. She will fight to remain free-even if it means her death because death would be a relief compared to the punishment she has already suffered. He's found her again and she must run-again. But as Bailey tries to flee for her life, she never expects to find help from vampire Other, Erick Thorson and she certainly never ever expected to be so attracted to this handsome sexy vampire. Viking, Erick Thorson, has been a vampire for almost two thousand years and has not loved since he lost his beloved Elinor almost a thousand years ago. But when he first saw beautiful brave Bailey, he knew she was special and resolves to help her. He desires Bailey and knows that he could easily love her but realizes that he must proceed cautiously or he may risk losing her forever. Will Erick and his town of Others be able to keep Bailey safe? Can Bailey defeat her demons, both real and emotional, and learn to trust again? Will she finally find safety and a home - a sanctuary? Maybe, just maybe, there is hope in Sanctuary, Texas! Handsome sexy vampire-check! Beautiful brave heroine-check! Large cast of paranormal/supernatural beings-check! Suspense, action and magickal clothes-check! Yep, I said magickal clothes! Romance, steamy sex and a smidge of BDSM-check, check and check! Yeah baby! This story has it all! Leave it to Krystal Shannon to give us an all you can eat buffet! I was turning the pages so fast, my IPad couldn't keep up! I was totally enthralled! And last but not least, it's a stand alone novel. No cliffhangers. Even so, I can hardly wait to read the next book in this amazing series! Who doesn't love sexy dragons! Awesome read and fabulous entertainment!

It's like the author pulled pieces of every best seller and put it in to one. Hey, let's do vampires, shifters, heck-all supernaturals and put them in post America. Then we'll add in some shades of gray. All it needs is aliens and hunger games. Have some creativity. If you like brain trash this is for you. Literally the dumbest read ever.

Story was a little hard to read but I mostly enjoyed it.

Good, entertaining read  What I liked: This story transports us to another time and place. About 80 years into the future and a different land. Because different beings have come into the light, prejudice abound and new states, or rather Republics are founded and thus the land as we presently know it is no more. We also get introduced to so many likable and fun characters. Pixies, weres, djinns, sirens, gods of old time, and of course vampires, among others. I’m sure there will be other books in the series so I hope all of them show up in the rest of the stories.  The town where they live is magical and it has a genuine feeling to it. It feels homey and everyone seems friendly but it also has that trace of darkness that my PNR side needs in order to feel satisfied.  I liked my heroine, Bailey, whom we meet while running from her abusive ex. She seemed a relentless fighter and a strong woman. Even when she confronts new danger and meets our hero, vampire Erick, she meets it head on and with an attitude of “what do I have to lose.” And Erick was a charmer from the moment they met. Even though he was almost too possessive and overly protective from the get go, he pretty much was sent to save her so I’m going to let that go.  Not so much: I didn't understand the need to place the story so far into the future. In my opinion it would have made much more sense if set in this time. There are glimpses when the author gives out explanations like why Bailey is always on the run or why she’s ignorant to so many things but they still feel invalid. Perhaps it’s a parallel world and I failed to catch that because Bailey and Erick meet at a bus station. In the year 2096? Ok, if that’s what the author wanted, it’s her world, and I shall take it as it is.  All in all the story is much more entertaining than I’m making it sound but there are two things that bugged me to no end, and I’m really sorry if you disagree but it is what it is.  When Erick and Bailey meet, all I could think was True Blood, not the books but the actual TV show. It just gave me that impression. It just had that same feeling of magic, faeries, werewolves, vampires, humans. And the hero’s name is Erick Thorson! And NO, I’m definitely NOT saying it’s a copy of the show because IT’S NOT, but occasionally it’s how it felt to me. So yeah, their town is genuine, but the feeling of the story, not so much at times.  Also, the last chapter felt unnecessary. Don’t want to throw many spoilers but throughout the book there was no mention of what Erick liked to do until the very end and then all of a sudden, BAM! Yep, you’re going to have to read it to know what I’m talking about.  *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

This was such a great read. It was very different from most of the other PNR stories I have read and I really enjoyed the world that Krystal Shannan has created for this new series – Sanctuary, Texas. Set in the future, times are very dark for the supernatural community. They have been blamed for the civil unrest, riots, and basically every bad thing that had happened once it was discovered that there were “others” that walked among us. The government has taken control of things, which has created a society of little knowledge and little resources, so everyone is suffering and just trying to get by. I loved how I was able to learn about this new world through Bailey’s eyes. The bleakness and desperation that Bailey felt about her existence and her situation were written so well, it was so easy to feel along with her as she tried to escape her past. I loved what a fighter she was. It would have been so easy for her to give up and give in, but she refused to let her circumstances control her destiny. Sanctuary was such an interesting community filled with lots of secrets and different paranormal beings – many who would not choose to live together, but have been forced to since they have been targeted by the government. It was fun watching all the different relationships between the residents and seeing them all interact. When Erick claims Bailey – a human – not everyone is thrilled about this. Of course there are many other forces at work and things aren't always as they seem, so Erick and Bailey’s relationship may either bring trouble or salvation to the town - or perhaps a bit of both. There were lots of steamy times, and one of the features of the town is a BDSM Castle that is an integral part of the town. Of course in a town like this, Bailey’s issues from her past surface, and she and Erick are faced with trying to overcome her fears if they are going to have a future together. I really enjoyed this introduction to Sanctuary, Texas and can’t wait to learn more about some of the other residents. This was a fun read that was well written and entertaining and a definite must read! I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading this story about Bailey. I was so glad her ex boyfriend was taken care of. I loved that Bailey found a home where she was loved and could laugh and have friends.

Great book. Loved the characters. Would have given 5 stars except I'm getting bored with the FSOG sex scenes so many authors want to use now. Not everyone wants to read about "the lifestyle ". Does nothing for me. Do plan on buying next book though.

OKAY THIS IS OFFICIALLY ANOTHER FAVORITE SERIES. And I haven't even read the second book, yet. Book probation. Ugh. T_T But anyways. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH OMG!!!!! Bailey's on the run from a horrible ex who happens to be a cop (bummer deal, man) and just so happens, Erick saves her from another problem and takes her to his hometown, Sanctuary: a haven of sorts for the Others within the only one of three republics that still see Others as people and not vermin to kill on sight. What a way America's turned, hmm? This whole Dystopia world is freaking awesome. I seriously dig the vibes! Like you have no idea. With the way Shannan wrote this, she managed to tell me everything that was going on in the world and still stick to the main story. No lagging, no "come on, get on with it!" thinking and not once did I feel the need to skip anything. Annyytthhiinnngg. It's a rare thing for me this weird week which is why I'm so relieved. I loved seeing her struggle with Erick and learning to trust people again- let alone a guy -but most of all, I loved the town. All the characters were great and I adore Bailey, but I have to say-- I fell in love with Sanctuary, and it's why I now cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the series. It just made me feel so happy, to have a haven that I as a reader can go to. I loved the people who made it up, a group of diverse species who CHOSE to bound together and think of each other as family. They're family. And I couldn't be happier for Bailey to be in such company. Shannan did a fantastic job at giving every character their own flavor, and I loved how original and creative everything was. Calli's enchanted clothes, the sex club, the story of the Sentinals and Djinns- I could go on (and I probably will in my blog tbh) but overall, this was a FREAKING AMAZING MUST READ book. The world set up is already reason enough to read it. 4.5 rating. Bailey had a tough time letting loose and at times I felt it rough for me as well, and her ex was more 2D than the nightmare she portrayed. The only thing I struggled a wee bit with was the way she worked things out in her head regarding her putting all her trust in a stranger. I didn't connect with that part and even when I did, I'd still find myself wondering rather than enjoying the story to its full capacity. It was just a tiny little speck of wariness that got lost in the sea of OMFREAKINGG for me. Otherwise I thought everything was just perfectly brilliant. High recommend. Hiiiiiigh.

Really need to keep the start of each chapter free from the large letter that keep the reader from reading that page. I lost a lot of the reading process. Would not read another book because of it.

I enjoyed this book. The main characters were fleshed out enough to seem like real people. The sex scenes were hot. But I could do entirely without the dominant / submissive routine. I will say that it wasn't too graphic or objectionable for me to be able to read--it was handled nicely. (Almost like she was taking the reader on the same trip of exploration and discovery that Bailey was on, to help / educate us rather than Bailey.) I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
