School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 4-8 Teen twins Sara and Sam take counselor jobs at a Pennsylvania mountain camp. Aside from teaching, riding, and leading trail rides, they investigate stolen food, a guard dog that doesn't bark, and fiddle music in the woods. A confessed liar, a camper lost in a storm, and flood evacuation give Sara the opportunity to show that personal prayer enriches lives. There are some unfortunate inclusions in the story. Arabians are not gentle, dependable horses for beginning riders. Sara and Sam irresponsibly launch a canoe rescue in a hurricane without notifying adults. The plot condones the food theft. This has a Christian message, but little elsethere's too little horse business for equine fans and too thin a mystery for armchair Sherlocks. Pat Harrington, Phoenix Public Library
