Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Of all the books in this "Unsolved!" series, this one offers the most mysterious incident. An Eastern airlines plane (Flight 401) on a run from New York to Miami crashed in the Everglades. While the cause of the crash was finally determined, the really strange occurrence was continued sightings of the flight crew who were in the cockpit and killed in the accident. Pilots, flight attendants and others claim that they saw ghosts of these men at various times, offering warning or just sitting in the plane. That is enough to freak anyone out and the really interesting piece of information was that Eastern, like other airlines, reused parts of the plane that were not damaged to build or repair other planes. For each plane that had a part of Flight 401, there seemed to be ghost sightings. Eastern began to quietly replace the components, but never really acknowledged that there was any reason for doing so and there have been no scientific confirmations. There are definitions of various words along the bottom of each page and they are reprised in the glossary. The last page contains an index and a list of further readings. Part of the "Unsolved!" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
