    Deliciously spooky!

I have read this book over and over- still, every time I reread it, I get goosepimples when I read, 'the bell began to toll.' It's that good. I can hear the haunting, mourning laugh of a single deep bell. It's the essence of this book. The mystery at Candleton- of water rushing out of a cave after the sounding of the bell- is inextricably connected with a cosmetics peddler and her accomplices. If you're going to read just one of the Nancy Drew books, read this one.

Awesome read! My Favorite of the series!!!

I've read this book over and over. I love the cliff-hanging suspense and the adventure. Being the hopeless romantic I am, I enjoyed having Ned around in Candleton. Hehe :) Anyway, this book satisfies my hunger for a good pick-me-up mystery. Carolyn Keene is by far the best ghost writer IN THE WORLD.

Different from the first edition.... LOTS of great parts missing!

I have an old, green-covered hard-back edition of this book from 1946, and trust me, this eBook version is WAY different. They take out some of the funniest parts, some of the important details, and basically strip it to bare minimum for you to understand the plot line! It still is one of the best in the series, but I think less of it reading this edition.

    Not the best.....

It was okay, but it really wasn't that scary or thrilling like all the others. i still think Nancy Drew fans should read it, but it really isn't that great.

    Pretty good!!!

I very much so enjoyed this book. The plot wasn't very strong. The pirate thing went a little too far! It was one of the REALLY good ones though. I enjoyed it and at points in the book I got really creeped out!!! I really enjoyed this and I think you will too! (Especially if you are a Nancy Drew lover!)

It is the best Nancy Drew book!

It starts out that Nancy Drew and Bess and George are driving to Candleton and she meets Madame a lady that sells perfume. But I do not want to spoil the surprise! You will just have to read the book and find out!
