Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Renee Farrah
Book three in the "Little Fur" series has Little Fur, an animal healer and a half-troll, half-elf girl, on a mission to save Ginger the cat and to discover the meaning in the Sett Owl's words, "Seek the Mystery of the Wolves." Although Little Fur's journey begins with the intent to save Ginger, she discovers a darker plot in which she must now protect all humans. The story takes place during the winter, and the quiet, snowy landscape imagery is so peaceful and relaxing you want to keep reading just to stay in Little Fur's world. There is gentleness and innocence in Little Fur's personality and in Carmody's writing that immediately makes you blindly trust and follow along. This is an ideal story to read aloud to a younger audience. Though kids twelve and up would be able to read this alone, the story may feel too juvenile. The cover of the book is soft velvet, and there are black-and-white, pen-and-ink illustrations sprinkled throughout the book, making the book look special and mysterious before you even delve into the enchanting world of Little Fur.
