Meet the Author

Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she taught school and wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by the book's success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden children.

This book is about 4 kids going to visit and cheer up there Aunt until they figure out they're not alone. There is uranium on their land. They are going to need guards to help the bad people from finding it. 3 men came and offered to buy the ranch for about half of what it is worth. The Aunt didn't take the offer. She finaly gave the ranch to someone who loved it. I liked this story because it's suspenseful. They find bad people but they end up winning. The story also takes place on a ranch which I enjoy too. They explore and find people that have been living on the ranch with out their Aunt knowing about it.
