Inspired by a revisiting of Thomas Sebeok's influential mid-century work, Myth: A Symposium, these 16 contributions from a wide spectrum of disciplines offer a range of views on past myth study as well as directions for the future.

Author Biography: Gregory Schrempp is Associate Professor of Folklore and Ethnomusicology and Co-director of the Program in Mythology Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. He is author of Magical Arrows: The Maori, the Greeks, and the Folklore of the Universe and numerous articles on myth and on the history of anthropological thought.
William Hansen is Professor and Chair of Classical Studies, Professor of Folklore, and Co-director of the Program in Mythology Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. His books include The Conference Sequence: Patterned Narration and Narrative Inconsistency in the Odyssey,Saxo Grammaticus and the Life of Hamlet: History, Translation, and Commentary, Phlegon of Tralles' Book of Marvels, Anthology of Ancient Greek Popular Literature, and Ariadne's Thread: A Guide to International Tales Found in Classical Literature.
