    Look at the facts...

Just because an author is a member of a certain organization or think-tank does not, IN AND OF ITSELF, mean that evrything they write is biased. This book, just like any other book, must be judged on its content and content alone. To determine its worthiness as a scholarly publication, one must take into account the sources that the author uses to back up his claims. Are they one-sided or broad in scope? In this test, the book passes with flying colors. It is replete with footnotes that cover the entire spectrum of israeli-palestinian discourse, including exhaustive material from arab-language newspapers, reporters, and books. This book presents facts, not opinions formulated by the author. The facts are backed up by extensive research that is difficult to dispute. In this day and age, when people like to have their information spoon-fed by agenda-driven documentaries and cable news specials, it is refreshing to read a book that presents cold, hard, meticulously-researched facts on this controversial subject. Highly recommended!

Among the best resources out there

This is a book I find myself constantly referring back to, both to understand the history of the region and to get the back story behind what's going on today. Factual, comprehensive, and genuinely informative - no fluff! If you're interested in the facts behind the Arab-Israeli conflict, this is a must-have resource.

    Merely propaganda

Before buying this book, read up on who and what the American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise is and what they advocate. This book's author is an executive director with this organization, which has no academic or scholarly affiliations. The AICE is purely a political organization with the expressed goal of promoting radical Zionist ideology. This book's sole purpose is an attempt to justify the insidious and indefensible policies of Israel regarding the Palestinians and their other Arab neighbors. The author, Mitchell Bard is also a board member on the Middle East Forum, a radical Zionist think tank. If you want to understand the Arab-Israeli conflict, look for something written by actual historians and scholars who don't have a political agenda to peddle. A good place to start is Charles Smith's Palestine and the Arab-Israeli Conflict (St. Martins Press), William Cleveland's History of the Modern Middle East (Westview Press), Ilan Pappe's Israel-Palestine Question (Taylor & Francis) and his new book, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine (One World Publications), Norman Finkelstein's Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-semitism and the Abuse of History (Univ of California Press), Noam Chomsky's The Fateful Triangle: The United States, Israel and the Palestinians (South End Press), Israeli author Simha Flapan's Birth of Israel: Myths and Realities and his other book, Zionism and the Palestinians, Samih Farsoun's Palestine and the Palestinians (Westview Press), and Mazin B. Qumsiyeh's Sharing the Land of Canaan: Human Rights and the Israeli-Palestinian Struggle (Pluto Press). Also, I recommend books which reproduce original source documents such as the UN Resolutions, letters, various commission of inquiry reports, etc., which one can read for himself or herself rather than relying on misleading and distorted interpretations of source documents such as Mitchell Bard does in this Myths and Facts book.

A great book to learn about the real truth of the Middle East Conflict

This was an incredibly good and consise book that put in the referances to actually documents and reports on what is really going on in the Middle East. It is good to see what the facts are are, not just the propaganda.
