In this “fun, sexy, emotional read” (Lisa Renee Jones), one woman discovers the courage to face life’s greatest challenges—and explore her connection with a handsome neighbor.
Violet Walker has been hiding. Withdrawn after a terrible car accident, she is worried about going back to her high-pressure job, where she’s expected to project confidence and sleek refinement. Allowing herself a distraction, she’s been watching her sexy neighbor work on his house. But when the shirtless, grinning hunk catches her in the act, Violet is struck by the unmistakable jolt of physical chemistry, a sensation that’s both thrilling and terrifying.
Noah Young is used to moving from one construction job to another, never laying a firm foundation. The same goes for the women in his life—until Violet changes all that. His beautiful voyeur embraces his rough edges and shows him a hint of real love. But even Noah can tell that she’s holding back, hiding her body and her heart from what they both truly want. If only he could get a little help convincing Violet to see herself as he sees her: perfect in every way.

Self-deception and self-denial can be antiproductive when trying to have a happy life.

I loved how even though Violet was struggling with her new reality, she was confident, real and not a shrinking flower. Noah was all about his family. He knew what he wanted and there wasn't really any tug or pull between the two. I hate when stories do the back and forth for tension sake in a plot. All in all, it was a good read. The chemistry between the two was really steamy. I mean SUPER hottttt.

I liked this book but I didn't love it.... the main reason was the main character Violet seemed to be weak. I know that scars, whether inside or out can emotionally stunt you & make life hard but she seemed to dwell on the negative things & not look to the positive. Maybe its just a difference of world view but I wanted to say put on your big girl panties & live your life. The writing was good & it this book is on a serious so I'm curious to read another book & see if I feel any differently. ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the premise of this book, but I just didn't connect with the characters; mainly the female lead, Violet. I still enjoyed the book, and it looks like this is going to be a series, so I think I'll check out the next books in the series because I did like the writing. Violet was in a car accident that left her with some bad scars on her neck and across her chest, and because of it she wears scarfs and clothes that cover up her scarred area, and she has very low self-esteem because she thinks she is hideous. Violet is use to everyone thinking she is so gorgeous, so she is afraid to show anyone her scars because she fears how people will think of her. Violet is sort of in hiding, and is sneaking peeks at her hot neighbor fixing up a house across from her house. Noah is the hot neighbor, and he knows Violet is watching him, so he does something to make her show herself, and of course there is an instant connection. Noah likes Violet, and Violet likes Noah, but Violet has issues and Noah has had a previous heartbreak, so they are both weary, but the decide to have no strings sex for the month that Violet is going to be in town before she heads back to the city for her job. Violet wants to keep any personal stuff out of the "relationship" because she is rich, and since she isn't ready to show anyone her scars, she doesn't want Noah to know her last name, so he can't look her up and know about her money and the accident. So, the problem I had with Violet is I felt she is too focused on looks, and I don't mean just hers, but some of the thoughts she had about Noah's sister, Charlotte, were very superficial. Just because someone doesn't dress sexy doesn't mean they are invisible and forgettable, and Violet was so use to everyone thinking she is so beautiful, she doesn't know who she is without her beauty, so her thought process was getting on my nerves. I loved that Violet is a great business woman, and I do like that she goes after what she wants, and I liked her family dynamic with her parents. Noah was a good guy, and I liked his family and friends. Violet and Noah definitely steam up the sheets, or I suppose the streets, since Violet has a thing about public sex. Violet and Noah do have some sweet moments, and I did like them together. I liked their banter with each other. I did enjoy reading Violet's journey of growth. I think this will be a good series, and I'm interested in Charlotte's story, and Harper and Luke's story. Another thing that bothered me.....SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why in the heck didn't Violet tell Noah that she had no intention of buying the house for her company!? If she would have said she wasn't going to do anything to the house, and she was going to find some way for all of them to be happy, I'm sure Noah wouldn't have had such a problem with it. Violet just didn't think things through enough.

Noah and Violet have to be one of my favorite couples. I love how they are together – experiencing new things and growing closer. It’s adorable how he takes her out on regular dates (although none of my dates go quite like their’s do :)). As hot and sexy as they are together, there’s also a sweetness to their falling in love. Both of them have issues they have to work out – Noah is unsure of the future he wants and Violet has to find her mojo. While they are both finding a distraction in each other, they also find a strength as well – Noah evaluates what he really wants out of his life, while Violet has to address some major body issues. Nowadays, I think almost everyone is aware of how hurtful other people’s view of us can be and her struggle with that is very touching. An added bonus – not only do we get a great story but we’re introduced to secondary characters that are sure to get great books of their own. There’s some great material there and they definitely add a certain oomph to the story. (Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review)

*ARC received from Random House Publishing Group in return for an honest review* Violet is hiding out from her high pressure job and family concerns, while still trying to recover from a car accident a year ago that left her scarred physically and emotionally. She has to go back to her real life soon but for now she just spies out the window on the hunk next door until he tricks her into coming over. Noah thinks Violet is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and wants her in bed but isn't looking for more because he's had his heart broken by a rich girl before. Violet and Noah have an intense attraction and begin a friendship which leads to what is supposed to be a fling but of course hearts get involved. There are some very hot sex scenes in this book. I liked Noah and his friends and family, but for some reason I did not really connect with Violet. I thought the story dragged a little in some places but overall this book is a good read.

Noah knows his neighbor Violet, has been spying on him for a while. So he decides it’s time to meet her. He “falls” off his roof. Of course this brings Violet running to see if he was all right. Violet has been hiding ever since an accident claimed the life of her fiancé. Not only is she scarred emotionally, but also physically. She realizes she cannot hide out forever. She knows she has to go back to the real world and take over as CEO of her father’s construction company. But in the meantime, Noah and Violet agree to a short term causal relationship. In fact they don’t even tell each other their last names. The chemistry between them is hot. While it was a little difficult to connect to Violet, I loved Noah, his family and friends, especially Harper. Noah knows Violet is holding back. Because he is falling for her, he is willing to wait for her to let him in on her secrets. They both have some self-esteem issues; Noah because he is a blue collar worker Violet because of her physical scars. I love how Harper was able to finally get Violet to like herself the way she is. I look forward to her story. This is a standalone book and is a lesson about loving yourself no matter what you look like or what you doing for a living. While this book did not blow me away, overall a solid story.

Naked is a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy-tale, with our heroine in the role of the Beast. Violet was in an accident a year ago that left her scarred over parts of her body. She has recovered but is unwilling to let her family or any other people see all of her. She keeps part of her face and body covered by scarves. She moves to small town to escape her family's disappointment/pity and begins to lust over her hot neighbor. Noah, a construction worker, is intrigued when he finally gets to meet Violets and he agrees to let her take control of the relationship. Will Violet become comfortable enough with herself to find happiness with Noah? Overall this was a sweet story, but be warned it has a lot of sex scenes! It is definitely on the erotic side of romance. Overall the story was complicated and at times confusing, but I enjoyed the characters enough to want to finish it. I was given a free copy for an honest review

3.5 stars---NAKED is the first installment in Gina Gordon’s contemporary, adult BODY AND SOUL romance series. This is the new CEO of Walker Industries Violet Walker, and construction foreman Noah Young’s story line. Told from dual third person perspectives (Violet and Noah) NAKED follows the building romance between new neighbors Violet Walker, and Noah Young. Approximately one year earlier, Violet was injured in a car accident that killed her fiancé, and left our heroine badly disfigured from the neck on down. Enter Violet’s neighbor Noah Young, a construction worker who is unaware of Violet’s past, and the secret she keeps about her plans for the neighborhood in which they live. NAKED is a story line about perceived perfection of beauty; the aspirations of one woman whose entire life has prepared her for something big; something more, but a life now scarred by an accident that Violet blames on, no one else, but herself. Violet is about to take over the CEO position at Walker Industries, and is determined to experience life before life experiences her. Violet is a woman who is confident about her abilities, but lacks the self-confidence to reveal herself to the world. As a heroine, Violet’s strengths and weaknesses were one and the same. The relationship between Noah and Violet is one of friends with benefits that grows into something more. Violet enters into her relationship with Noah never expecting to fall in love with, or to discover that her physical and emotional scars run more than skin deep. Violet hides behind colorful scarves and conservative clothing meant to mask the scars she has yet to reveal to her family or to the man with whom she is falling in love. NAKED has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Violet’s parents, several members of the Board of Directors of Walker Industries, and Noah’s large and loving immediate family. We are also introduced to Harper Jones-a young woman who specializes in boudoir photographs and getting woman to accept who they are-scars and all; and Body and Soul tattoo shop owner Luke, who may or may not have a thing for his co-worker Harper. NAKED is a story about contradictions; about the perception of beauty; and about the secrets we keep. The premise is a slow build to a happily ever but I was a little lost with regards to a certain aspect of the conflict resolution and Violet’s plans for the neighborhood rebuilding project. While Violet’s business outline was in complete contrast and opposition to Noah’s plans, there wasn’t a clear explanation or answer to the final outcome. Confusion reigns for the perceived future.

This book was very thought provoking, and it definitely struck a chord with me. There were lots of subliminal messages that really made me stop and think about society's perception of beauty and how it affects us all. Violet never wanted to be defined by her beauty but that's what has happened her entire life. She is a woman trying to forge a path in a very male-dominated world (construction), trying to prove she has achieved her position due to skill and intelligence, and not because of how she looks. Everyone dismisses her as beautiful - the employees in the company, the Board members, even her own mother criticizes her choices, wanting her to pursue a career that will showcase her beauty. The only person who appears to see her intelligence, strength, and determination is her father, and he is slowly disappearing in front of her eyes thanks to early-onset Alzheimers. Violet is waging a terrible inner battle. Though she doesn't want to be defined by her beauty it's hard to deny it when it's how people see her. So when that beauty is marred by tragic circumstances it's understandable that she falls apart. Unsure of who she is, and what she should do with her life, she flees to a small down to lick her wounds. Violet doesn't want her flawed skin to change her outlook but it does because she has spent so long being defined by it. She could easily resort to cosmetic surgery but I admired her for not even contemplating it. I really felt Violet's torment. She didn't want to care that her looks were altered, but she did, and she hated herself for that. Noah literally falls into her life one day and there's an instant mutual attraction. He is a 'real man,' the kind she has never tangled with before. At her insistence, they don't even share their last names, so their connection, at the start, is based purely on their looks and strong chemistry. Oh, the irony. But, as they get to know one another, she sees the man he is and realizes that if there is any guy she could trust with her secrets it's him. There were tons of sexy times, which is quite out of character for Violet, but she readily gave into her wild side, and it was a great distraction from the real problems. They had great chemistry together, and I was definitely rooting for them. Noah was very sweet and patient with her, and he always knew exactly how to play it. He never pushed her to reveal what she was hiding under the scarf, giving her whatever time and space she needed. He was hoping that she would eventually open up to him. Loved him for it. Violet does gradually start sharing more of herself, but she still struggles to fully expose herself to him. She wants to - which was progression - but she still can't go all the way. I thought this was expertly handled and extremely well written. Her fear of being touched in certain places was raw and painful and the emotions dripped off the page. She would get so close to it, and then pull back, too afraid to go there, and it was so credible and realistic. The characters and the complex emotions are what sold me on this story. I love a strong character- driven book with an underlying social message, which this was. The plot was fairly predictable and nothing that happened was a surprise, so I can't say the story itself blew me away. As I said, it was Violet's personal journey and her interaction with Noah and the other characters that hooked me. I love Roxy, Harper, and Noah's sister Charlotte, and I fully anticipate future books

3.5 stars Naked was an OK read. I liked Violet character, she had insecurities and fears that held her back from living life to the fullest. Noah was a total sweetheart, he was supportive, sexy, loved his family and the perfect guy for Violet. I wasn't a fan of Violet keeping secrets, so when the truth came out I totally understood Noah's pain. Overall I enjoyed this heartwarming story, I was happy Violet and Noah found their happily ever after with communication and trust. Looking forward to the next book in the Body & Soul series :)

A very good book from a new to me author. Gina Gordon sets the stage quickly and we're introduced to Violet Walker and get a good look into her deepest thoughts and fears right off the bat. A woman who has the world at her feet yet is still the insecure daughter of a powerful man, who just thinks everyone looks at her and sees beauty. When underneath lies a woman who is not only scarred physically but mentally as well. I loved this story of unplanned love between Violet and Noah. What starts as purely physical and short-lived becomes so much more in such a small span of time. And when secrets are finally revealed it might just be enough to drive a wedge between them forever. The author writes really wonderful characters. They are heartfelt and true. Violet and Noah, coming from different worlds but still sharing that skepticism that anyone could truly love them. I felt at home with them and their wild extended family. Harper and Luke made me laugh and Paige, Charlotte and their mom made me smile. This is truly devoted crew and I wanted to hang with them while enjoying a brew or two. I enjoyed the pace of this book and the steamy and erotic sex scenes were perfectly placed. Just enough to feel the chemistry between our couple but not too much to have me skimming pages. I look forward to Harper's story next and will not hesitate to 1click when it's published. A solid 4 stars!!

Great story about self awareness, body image, and self confidence. This story is about Violet who is hiding away from everybody even her family after a terrible accident leaves her with scars inside and out. Loved both of these great characters, Violet and Noah. Loved how the author dealt with the difficult issues in this story. Both of these characters have a lot of baggage that they are trying to work through or avoid altogether. Noah and Violet seem to bring out the best in each other, and although they are from different backgrounds they definitely seem to have some things in common. The heat that these two have together is sizzling hot. But with a time limit and limited information about each other that Violet and Noah agreed upon at the beginning of their relationship. They to soon find that their time is up even though neither wants to be without the other. But when fate steps in and they come face to face at work, Noah now thinks he understands why Violet kept so much from him. But will their secrets and baggage ever be all out in the open, and where will that leave them? Well written story, with some great lovable characters. It had good flow throughout an excellent build with drama and intensity and passion. Sizzling hot chemistry, and a great ending. Violet has been hiding after the car accident and loss of her fiancé but knows she will have to go back to her high pressured job soon enough. Right now she is just enjoying the view of her shirtless neighbor. Noah knows Violet is watching him and devises a way for them to meet and have some fun together. As the chemistry between these two heats up Noah knows Violet is holding back is hiding something from her. Can he convince her beauty is more than skin deep? Emotional read with lots of drama and plenty of steam. I really liked it.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Naked by Gina Gordon is Book 1 of the Heart & Souls Series. From the first page I was pulled in and couldn’t stop reading til I got to the very end; I wasn’t ready for it to be over. Must.Have.More. Ms. Gordon did a slam dunk job in bringing her storyline to life with well-written characters and the ability to draw us in and connect with them. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them as they did with each other. The author’s writing is wonderfully done and well-executed. Kudos Ms. Gordon, and thank you!

An emotional touching tale of rediscovering strength, hope, love, second chances, and beauty. I have read several books from Gina Gordon but in her newest release, Naked, Ms. Gordon went beyond a typical love story. She stripped her readers naked and in such allowed them to really feel. Feel the hopelessness, the loss, the guilt, the insecurity and the vulnerability of being exposed. “She’d wanted him. That much was obvious. But he got the impression she wasn’t accustomed to being the aggressor. So maybe it was time that someone taught her how to take what she wanted.” Naked was truly one of those reads that reminded you that each one of us are vulnerable to our fears. Fears that can inhibit us from truly living life. And for Violet Walker, her insecurity and fears were skin deep and beyond. After a fatal car crash that left her fiance dead and her alive, Violet struggles with guilt. He died and she lived. She should be thankful that she is alive but the scars ridden on her body has made her fearful, insecure, and afraid. The scars were just a reminder to her that she may have a beautiful face but her upper half of her body was damaged with scars. So when she meets her sexy next door neighbor, for the first time, Violet felt a spark. A spark that could only be ignited by the presence of Noah Young. Noah was aware that Violet was attracted to him and that she was hiding something since she was always wearing clothes to cover her neck and upper body. As Noah and Violet begin a sexual relationship, Violet makes it known to Noah that he can't touch her upper body and that this sexual fling is temporary nothing serious. After a few weeks into their fling, they decided to part ways. But as it turns out, fate has a funny way of working out since Violet discovers that her Noah is the Noah Young hired to help construct her family's construction project. As the newly appointed CEO of her family's business, how will Violet react to discovering that Noah is one of her employees? And will Violet be able to strip down and show Noah how she truly feels about him? Can Noah finally see the real Violet? When it comes to love, can Violet finally be naked? I found Naked by Gina Gordon an enjoyable read. There are times where I felt it was a bit tad slow but I understood that author wanted to showcase that stripping yourself bare emotionally and physically takes time. Each one of us has to come out of our shell. For some, it may come faster but for people like Violet Walker, she had to take her time. In all honesty, I applaud Ms. Gordon for writing a character so emotionally flawed because it makes Violet relatable. I love how Ms. Gordon showed Violet's character growth with the help of Harper. I think everyone needs a friend like Harper to help push you in rediscovering your inner beauty and acceptance. I love that this book is about stripping you naked emotionally and helping you gain confidence. We all have a past. A scar. Experience some type of loss. And are vulnerable at one moment in our life. But when you truly evaluate your life, no one is perfect. Perfection does not define you but our imperfection is beauty. So if you are looking for a book that interweaves heart, raw emotions, family, strength, beauty, confidence, second chances and love then Naked by Gina Gordon is the book for you. ~Michelle of Four Chicks Flipping Pages
