This intriguing volume treats us to a rare glimpse at the models 'then & now.' If you simply want to indulge an erotic whim, a magazine from the local adult bookstore might be less challenging. This book is meant to make us rethink how the camera freezes our fantasy men in time, and our culture¿s lack of appreciation for the way men age. George Platt Lynes fans in particular will enjoy this book.

A collection that mainly focuses on the 1930's - 1950's. True there were very handsome naked men back then too, but this collection is far from good. Don't let the picture on the cover fool you, the photos contained aren't as erotic or artistically aesthetic. Try other collections instead. David Leddick's collections are fair but there are nicer ones out there (see below). An interesting book, but far from great and far from David Leddick's best. Try some newer collections instead.

This book is fascinating if macabre. Seeing these one-time beauties, after age has ravaged them for forty years is a humbling experience. However, do not confuse this author's writing with scholarship. I counted over 25 factual errors in the first 10 pages of his essay. Also, the selection of photographs is often poor. Better nude images exist for many of the models featured in this book.
