This game uses the same system found in Napoleonics Quatre Bras, but the scope is much wider. More units, a bigger map, more artillery, and numerous options that have an impact on play balance and replay value. It is probably a good idea to master the rules by playing the smaller scale Quatres Bras game first ... the ability to deploy in columns, reserve or line, and the combat system. To get a better sense of the tactical reality behind the rules, take a look at a book like The Battle, a recent history of Waterloo by Alessandro Barbero. The rules text now appears in a clear black on white font, correcting an annoying bug in early versions of the other game for the Nook. Deciding which units to cumulatively activate is crucial ... but note that all artillery can move independent of those release decisions, and units can rally or form square before formal activation, too. Let us hope for more Napoleonic battle scenarios soon!
