This is a must read for an serious student of American history. The work shows Crockett as a very human, very American historical figure. Tennessee politics, treatment of native Americans, class struggle regarding land claims, the birth of Texas, the career of Andrew Jackson and other historical developments are made more realistic and clear to the 21st Century reader after reading this volume. The language is colorful. From the Trail of Tears to the Alamo, the book is clearly an important historical work. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
