Meet the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri ("Mechanism"). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

The latest offering from Masashi Kishimoto the main hero is now learning new skills from a new teacher. As the village tries to discover more about the hidden enemy "Pain" enemies continue to approach Naruto's hidden village. Fans of the series will enjoy the installment. Although there is not much yet revealed there are hints that more is yet to come. This will leave the reader awaiting the next installment.

Naruto is an extremely detailed plot with excellently drawn characters. This is a great story for people of all ages, especially those who grew up in the Marvel and DC Universes.

This series deals with a warrior class and the close knit bonds that tie each of them together. There are a lot of lessons about morals dealing with how you deal with the people you consider to be family, and the kind of understanding it takes to add people to that group. The battles are never dull, each of the characters is unique and growing, and there are plenty of funny situations in each story. My kids and I all enjoy it, and we all wish the anime of this series was as good.
