Meet the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri (Mechanism). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

I have always liked the Naruto series. The cartoon is always fun to watch but it takes a long time for the story to develop. The books cut out all of the long and pointless episodes that don't develop the story. I don't even watch the shows any more I just read the books and I have started to prefer it like that.

You know I wasn't sure what to expect with the story this time around. Or well after where the anime ended at at least. But still, these volumes thus far have been pretty good. Fight scenes especially. Another good volume.
