Just browsing the songs & am hooked! Natalie sings with her heart and soul unlike any other artist. Her music is food for the woman's heart, soul & personal strength. Her music may never appeal to everybody as some are still stuck in the 10,000 maniacs days hoping to relive the songs of their youth. Natalie has the Unique talent as an artist to continue to grow with her audience & bring the grace of age & experience to her music. I always look forward to what new insights she will bring to her next album. Very few artists continue to grow and develop as an artist as she has, rather they tend to keep playing the songs that made them famous. As for her Voice, it has actually gotten even better over the years! (with or without back up). I will be buying this asap & would like to again say Thank you Natalie for not singing to the Masses but for creating music for the soul!

Kind of a downer. I am quite the fan of Natalie Merchant, but this one I listened to only once and gave away to someone facing a divorce. I can't listen to depressing songs about cold fires at this stage of my life. If you can, however, this record may be just the right thing!
