Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vanessa Richardson
Nathan lived in this house 120 years ago and Michael lives in the same house today. They are both eleven-year-old boys, but their worlds, everyday surroundings, and interests are very different. This book will open the eyes of the middle reader to the many things that we take for granted in today's technological world. From how we get power now as opposed to then, to construction of farms then and construction in today's cities. The book also takes the reader through changes in the ways we communicate, transportation, schooling, entertainment, even family dinners. This book is a reality check for all of us who are so consumed with living in today's world filled with television, computers, e-mail, cell phones, video games, iPods, and the like. It is nice to remember that there was a time when people actually lived their lives, enjoyed the outdoors, and talked to each other. Well written with nice watercolor and colored pencil illustrations. The characters retain the same 'look' while illustrating the big differences in their lifestyles.
