As a Geology major, I bought this guide to help me identify raw minerals in the field. It has helped me in a big way. If you like geology get this guide, it will be a big help in the field.

This book was extremely useful in the field, and it helped me alot when I was studying in school. The book has a great pictures and gives all the important information you need to identify common rocks and minerals. If you are more advanced in your field you may want other books as well, but it's a great place to start!!!!!!!!!!

This book is helpful in identifying rocks. Very nice photos. I was just hoping it would have some photos of gems and other stones in their raw form so its easier to know what to look for when you are an inexperienced rockhounder.
