Who says that geography can't be enjoyable?

Who says that learning about geography, history, and science can't be enjoyable? The new, first-ever National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010, with over 500 stunning photographs and more than 300 pages, is the kind of book that I could have sat down with when I was a student and spent many happy hours leafing through--and for that matter still can! This backpack sized reference book with full color design and easy to read format is filled with amazing facts arranged in nine chapters: Your World 2010; Awesome Adventure; Amazing Animals; Culture Connection; Geography Rocks (what else would you expect from National Geographic?) with listings of information about every nation on earth and each of the United States; Going Green; History Happens; Wonders of Nature; and Super Science. In addition to fun crafts, games, jokes, and recipes, the almanac will help children get ready for school with a section entitled "Homework Help" at the end of each chapter on things like how to write an essay, make a report, read a map, give a speech, and do a science project. Curious kids will find this book both interesting and useful.

Great book for many ages, Very Interesting, Colorful

As you would expect with National Geographic, the photos are amazing. The book is so colorful, artwork is intriguing for kids. My 10 year son & my 3 year old granddaughter would sit together & often just look at it together. There are nuggets of interesting information scattered around the pages. This works great for my son with ADHD, he absorbs these nuggets & can file away to share later. Great investment, will use for a while.

It's Never too Early to Learn to Research

My 7 year old son, enjoys geography and trivia. He is forever coming to me with a tidbit of information that he learned at school or asking me a curious question. When I realized he was posing questions that sometimes stumped me his 38 year old mother, I decided it was time to find a resource we both would enjoy. The National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010, is a wonderful introduction to a variety of topics. It combines fabulous photography with up-to-date information, without being overwhelming or too sophisticated for a child. I think it's wonderful to have an option other than the internet to direct my son to when he is seeking information.

    Son takes this book everywhere!

My 7-year-old son picked this book the last time we were in a B&N store. HE LOVES THIS BOOK! He takes it everywhere! He loves to read and share what he learns with everyone. He is always asking "Did you know...?" and showing us interesting pictures. He has learned so much from this one book! Perfect book for curious kids!

Great source of info for kids and adults!

I bought this for my grandsons in Michigan. The oldest boy broke his leg sledding and the book arrived around the same time. My daughter gave him the book and he wanted to carry it around at the hospital, to the doctor appointments and while convalescing at home. The book is full of great facts and information that kept him interested. It is visually engaging. Everyone in the family has enjoyed this book!

    Good almanac

I found this book interesting, but felt it was rather busy with too much information on some pages.
