Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"From adventure to science, from examinations of many cultures to explorations of the wonders of nature, here’s a book no kid (or grown-up) can resist." --ReadKiddoRead.com

"Learning about your world and everything in it was never so much fun!" --Belleville-Nutley Patch

Children's Literature - Amy S. Hansen
The subtitle of this text is "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Everything!" This is a broad claim for a 350-page book, but not without merit. The book, like the earlier ones in the series, ricochets from topic to topic. Some topics are no more than a caption on a wonderful picture, but that is a picture we will remember. Others get a whole paragraph or two, using bright pictures and page design to move us through chapters on news, animals, adventure, culture, science, fun and games, nature, environmental issues, history and geography. This is not the book for in depth research but for wetting the appetite and skimming. That said, this book will fly off the shelf at the library. Why? Because everyone wants to look at cool pictures and learn cool facts, such as: a cheetah's spots are evenly spaced, while a jaguar has larger rings. It will be useful for the kids who just want the facts, as well as those who finish classwork early and need something else to do. And while it is aimed at the middle grade reader, everyone, younger and older, will like looking at the pictures. Reviewer: Amy S. Hansen
