Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Brandon West
Puppies, kittens, and parrots, oh my! With stunning pictures and short text, this is a thoroughly engaging nonfiction picture book perfect for animal-loving children. This book explores a variety of useful topics regarding pet ownership, such as comparing and contrasting pets to wild animals, techniques for pet care, teaching tricks to pets, and analyzing the similarities between pets and humans. Each page presents eye-catching visuals that burst with bright colors that help engage children with nonfiction writing. The photographs are the true highlight of this book, as the animals' expressions and poses will give children a reason to "ooh and aah" or giggle with delight. Text is presented in snippets and short paragraphs, although the reading level might be a bit difficult for early readers. Books in the "National Geographic Kids" series are always fun and informative, and this tradition continues in Everything Pets. This is a title that children will continue to pull off your bookshelf.
