Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carol Mitchell
George Washington is a colorful book aimed at teaching young elementary aged children about the life of George Washington and his contributions to the United States. The information is presented in clear language and includes easy phonetic spelling of larger words. New words are defined on the same page in boxes easily accessible to young readers. In addition to the basic details of George Washington’s life, the book includes interesting, off-beat facts about the first President, for example, that George Washington did not have a middle name. The book includes a combination of photographs and paintings. Each page contains a lot of information but it is presented in a way that is pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Young readers will find lots to absorb and learn on each page. There are questions at the back to reinforce understanding of certain facts. It ends with encouragement to children to read other books about similar topics. Reviewer: Carol Mitchell; Ages 5 to 7.
