Meet the Author

Larry J. Zimmerman is Distinguished Regents Professor of Anthropology and Director of the anthropology program at the University of South Dakota. He is the Chair of the Society for American Archaeology’s Native American Scholarship Committee and former Executive Secretary of the World Archaeological Congress. In 1995 he was an adviser to BBC television’s “Bones of Contention” in its popular Horizon series.

Brian Leigh Molyneaux, Ph.D, the associate author on this book, is Director of the University of South Dakota Archaeology Laboratory. He is also a Research Associate at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton, England. He is a specialist in prehistoric art and society. His extensive fieldwork includes the study of rock-art sites across North America and research into the art, ritual and religion of the Ojibway and Micmac tribes.

    EDUCATIONAL!

    VERY EDUCATIONAL AND PROVIDES A MUCH BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE LIVES AND HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN. I NOW HAVE A MUCH DIFFERENT OUTLOOK AND GREAT RESPECT FOR THESE GREAT PEOPLE!

    very historical and intriguing

    The book covers the life and culture of the North American people. It had many historical facts and figures. This book has many points of the Native American culture, including 6 unique sites with historical overviews on each site. The chapters of the book include dispossession, identity and religion. Overall this is a good book for people interested in the Native American culture and history.

    a must read

    this book covers a variety of topics in regards to american indian culture, heritage, ceremonies, history, and the future of the native american peoples. it is just the kind of book that i was looking for. it makes a great reference book when you need to do research.
