Native's Guide to New York: 750 Ways to Have the Time of Your Life in "the City"

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Laermer is like most New Yorkers--when he finds a good thing he does not want to reveal it; therefore there is little here that cannot be found in Fodor's or any other good guidebook to New York City, or even in New York magazine or the New York Times . Short chapters run the gamut from power breakfasts to organizations and experts. In the spring and fall, New York is a plethora of street fairs, crafts fairs, antique shows, etc. You would not know that from this guide. Laermer seems to have concentrated almost solely on Greenwich Village and Soho. Caveat emptor to visitors who want to go ``native'' in the Big Apple. New Yorkers will give short shrift to this book.-- Paula M. Zieselman, Debevoise & Plimpton Lib., New York.
