Library Journal - Library JournalGr 2-5-Excellent additions to any collection in need of high-interest/low-vocabulary books or general introductions to these topics for younger readers. Natural Disasters covers hunting hurricanes, chasing tornadoes, El Nino, and volcanic eruption. Ancient World has chapters on the Valley of the Mummies in Egypt; a Mayan mural in Guatemala; Caral, Peru, the oldest city in the Americas; and Pompeii. A map is included in each chapter. Both books have good-quality, full-color photographs and illustrations and a list of Web sites. The site for the hurricane hunters can be accessed in Spanish as well as in English. Unfortunately, the reading levels on most of the sites are much higher than those of the books. Solid facts, presented in appealing formats.-Jean Lowery, Bishop Woods Elementary School, New Haven, CT Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
