Meet the Author

Ayo-Keisha Smith is a natural hair care specialist, located in the Atlanta metropolitan area. She has over thirteen years of experience in hair care. She has specialized in the care of ethnic, non-chemically-treated hair for over a decade. During this time, she has amassed a diverse clientele, and a network of fellow service providers who rely on her expertise and knowledge of best-practices in natural hair care. At the root of her passion for natural hair is her own personal hair experience: when she decided to transition from relaxed hair to natural styles, she encountered a lack of understanding and appreciation from service providers, employers, and peers. It was at that point, that she committed herself to understanding the innate characteristics (and benefits) of natural hair.

Ayo had found her purpose. She immersed herself in the study of natural hair. She has explored products and processes such as the technique for undetectable braiding. Her presence as an authority on natural hair is due in part to the fact that she has fine-tuned the art of cultivating healthy hair and conceiving attractive contemporary natural styles. Ayo combines skill with creativity, and the result is hair magic.

Ayo offers hair-care services to select clients who rely on her for guidance and input into long-term hair decisions. She also teaches seminars to hair-care professionals and consumers, and has performed at natural hair care conferences and showcases. She is particularly noted for her work with color, and has consistently taught color technique classes at the World Natural Hair Show, held annually in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ayo-Keisha Smith loves what she does, and she does it well. In the midst of being a consummate professional in her line of expertise, she balances family life, and community service. She is actively involved in the lives and creative interests of her three children Benjamin Smith, Gzus Smith, and Queen Smith and values the time that she spends with her mother, Judith Smith, her twin sister Krystal Dabon, and other family members. She also volunteers
with various community and grass-root projects, such as the Hosea Feed the Hungry organization and the “Diva In A Day” competition, a program that assists homeless women re-enter the workforce.
